For girls: Always wipe from front to back to avoid spreading bacteria and fecal matter to the vaginal opening. Standing or sitting does not matter. For guys, it is still a good idea to wipe front to back. Again, sitting or standing does not matter.

I've always heard to wipe from front to back, as the rectal area is much more likely to cause germs to spread to the genital area.I wipe squatting, as I do not totally sit down on any public rest room's toilet seat.At home, I lift up to wipe from front to back.

I think that is personal preferance. Women should wipe away from the vagina--fron to back-- to prevent anything from accidentally getting into the vagina. as for standing or sitting--wipers choice. whatever will get the job done without a mess. men can go with whatever feels comfortable but my husband says standing so dangalies don't touch the cold dirty bowl. hope you figure it out.
