It depends on the price range you want to be in. I used to shoot well with an old Winchester 101 I had. I've shot a few Browning Citori's and they are a fine gun.
For the price, my American Arms Silver Lite 12 ga. is an awesome gun. Single selective trigger and ejectors, screw in choke tubes, and only weighs 6 lbs. It was made in Spain by Lanber and only imported from 1990-1992.
Remington is importing some nice guns made in Russia, take a look at the SPR310 too.
You can find a nice gun for $500-700.00 You don't have to spend $1,000 or more to have a great gun.

Well, that depends on what you're using it for, and how much you are willing to spend.
If you don't want to spend much, and are looking for a field gun, a Ruger or Remington 332 or Premier (Premier are made in Italy for Remington..) will do. Rugers can kick a bit, but if you use the right loads and the gun fits you, no problem. If you don't mind buying foreign, a Remington SPR model made in Russia, though in my opinion the Spartan guns are junk. Also, a Beretta might be favorable, or a Browning. A Winchester will kick a bit, especially an old 101..
If you're looking for a competition gun (Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays), again it depends what you want to spend. Old Remington 3200's are always great, provided the upgrades are done, as are Winchester Diamond-Grades. Berretta is a good choice, as are Brownings again. Unfortunately, your choices are limited for new good American-made trap and skeet guns - I wish Remington would do a 332-Competition Trap and Skeet models made in their NY factory. You may also consider a Ljutic (sp?) or Sietz.
Now if money is no object, and you'll be competing long and hard for years to come, a Kolar or Kreighoff. Kolar's are made in Wisconsin and are real great solid guns. Kreighoff's K80 is great, but its made in Germany. Take your pick - a combo will set you back over $10,000.00.
Hope that helped a little bit anyway.

Not an expert, but that has never stopped me before. Shotguns more than any other guns are about fit. Besides trigger tell me what else (aside from complete trash) could make a difference? You have a good barrel now you have a barrel that was laser cut to unbelievable tolerances. Then it was x-rayed for flaws. Then they stress relieved it and cryo treated it. This was after they checked the harmonics of it with the cartridge you were going to shoot. This was all done by nubile virgin nasa engineers. Has anything improved? expensive guns are usually prettier and lighter. Fit Fit Fit. I think hell I don't know

Nonesuch, depends on the price range you are looking at and you're personal preference for how they handle. There are also many modifications and accessories that can make considerable difference in comfort and performance. You might try going to the local skeet range and asking people what they like, especially people about your own height and weight. If they'll let you, you might even try out a few there. Consulting a pro gunsmith for what he's had least problems with isn't a bad idea either. He can also tell you which will take modifications and accessories you might choose most easily.
