Well, I suggest a pond or a lake. Ducks love the rain, so if it's going to rain soon, go then. Depending on how domesticated they are, you could just bribe them with food (bits of bread are good) and use a fishing net (one of those with the handles). Best of luck on your duck hunting adventure.

I have some domesticated ducks that are destroying my front porch. They leave piles on the porch and then children step in it and track it in the house. I am capturing them today with a net. Then releasing downtown at the duck preserve. But yes they are very awkward to catch.

In the US you would be violating federal law even if you were saving its' life. and you will be fined a health $500. or so. If you really need a pet duck pick a baby domesticated duck from a feed store a much better pet anyway.. Be sure you have the time need to clean and care for this messy little fella.

why???
please don't tell me you're going to keep this duck as a pet, because wild animals make horrible pets.
if you want to come into direct contact with wild ducks, the best way is to go find some at a pond somewhere and feed them some bread.

wild ducks are protected by law...unless it is hunting season and you have a license, capturing a duck can lead to a fine and a jail sentence.

There are these humane traps you can buy on ebay for like 40 bucks--you put something in it the animal would like, when they go in to get it, the door shuts...
It is used often for stray cats, raccoons, skunks ect so I don't see why you couldn't use it for a duck!
