For example,

Do I need to believe in Jesus to decide if I can or can not steal a sandwhich, if I am hungry and have no money.

Do I need to believe in Jesus, to decide if I can steal medicine for a sickness, if I have no money.

Do I need to believe in Jesus, to decide if I should or should not lie to a coworker, regarding how I do not like her.

Do I need to believe in Jesus to determine the morality on killing a man who is attacking physically my wife in an inapproriate fashion.

Of course not, but belief in Jesus would make those decisions as well as all your decisions a lot easier.

What about all the people who existed before Jesus came to Earth?

Actually, there might even be a majority of humans who existed before Jesus was here , or even now have not heard of Him, so what guided their actions?

The base of all moral actions regardless of religious belief is called natural law, which takes the form of our conscience and is a part of all humans from birth until death.

We all have our own moral standards for making decisions, even if we don't realize it.

Jesus came in part to simplify and clarify those standards so we could make the right moral decision more often and more easily.

the concern right here is which you look to presume that all and sundry atheists are immoral hedonists who care approximately no longer something yet themselves. maximum persons are good, variety, trouble-free people who stay easy lives, hurting no-one and minding our very own corporation. Any acts of charity, kindness etc, that we do, we do because of the fact we like our fellow person, to no longer provide us a miles better danger of having a miles better time in an afterlife. we don't hate Jesus, or God. We in simple terms extremely will no longer be able to have self assurance that the two exists. we've seen no evidence, no information to help their existence and are completely chuffed with this. and there is not any 'good information' - information skill new ideas and so a approaches as i will see, no information for 2000 years shows that somebody have been given it incorrect an undesirable long term in the past!

here's an idea. Why not just not believe but accept that His wisdom was superior to your own and that it could be boiled down by this intelligence all future actions into two guidlines. The forst guidline has nothing to do with the situations you describe so all such decisions would then be covered by only one rule. Could a superior intelligence possibly come up with one single rule that would cover every situation let me see try this one on.

treat everyone as you would want them to treat you. What da ya think does this rule properly deal with all your moral questions.

How did He do that ???

the better question would be how silly is it not to believe in one who can cover all moral situations with only one sentence??
one more question....are you tired of the logic game yet???

No, I don't believe so. As a Christian-for many years-I've made some really horrible decisions. I'm sure I will make more. We, as Christians, can sometimes be worse than non-christians. I believe it is because the devil tempts us more. If he can pile on the temptation and we fail to fight it off and act like an idiot in front of a non-believer, then he wins that battle. The non-believer sees us acting badly, and then he doesn't want to have anything to do with us or our religion.

Thank goodness we have grounded people with good thoughts and actions. You need Jesus for many other reasons outside of this. However, many have incorporated these actions more as a soild base once being converted then they did before conversion

you make it sound that people who don't believe in jesus cannot make moral decisions but there are plenty of people who do. You have the right to make personally moral decisions, like your last statement where you kill your wife's rapist. Would anyone blame you. May the god of your choice bless you--or not

You tell me.
What DO you require?
You have studied [I'll give you credit for that!], and you have decided a belief in Jesus is not for you. [not trying to put words in your mouth, this is just what I've gathered from other postings]
If that's the case, so be it.
Peace be with you.

no you don't. moral decisions have been made long before jesus ever existed and made by people who have never heard of him.
