Good and evil are judged by people. Time and place are important in deciding whether something is good or evil. For example, there is no doubt in my mind that the Inquisitors thought that they were doing God's work, that is good. But seen in the cold light of the twenty first century, torture is definitely evil.

I would say cultural. I know way too many folks who believe that good and evil exist together. Think in terms of the Yin Yang symbol. One blends into the other and there is a circle within each side showing the constant presence of the other side. Both exist inside of each of us. If it was historical, it would be more clean cut of a change.

You will find many falsehoods in many relgions and out of religion. But in Christianity, if one really studies what God says and understands it , they will see, that the distinction between good and evil has always been. Its like saying light and darkness go together. How can it be light out , if it is dark. gimmme a break. dont know how these religions get people to believe this stuff. People must not listen to me or anyone else. Read the Bible for yourself. Study it, Pray about it, and ask God continually for new truths and revelations and to explain scripture to you. Be obedient and He will lead you to all truths. Do we want an evil world to live in, or a good world? If we can be bad, then we must allow others to be bad to us. I for one dont like disrespect and rudeness, therefor I dont give it out. For those who love to shove out dissrespect, hatred....... well dont be shocked when it is given to you, and remember you say it is OK. and do remember that not everyone claiming to be Christian really is. Some just wear that title to look good. Some wear that title and believe they have it down pat, when in reality there are only hearing their own voice that listens to the devil. With God there is no room for selfishness. Be it our own or anyone elses. We are to treat others as we want to be treated. and set boundaries that allow only respect to be given to us. Once you are truly a child of God and KNOW it, you wont ever give out meanness or take it. Turning the other cheek doesnt mean to stay and be that punching bag for someone. Turning the other cheek, means walking away in forgiveness and love, and staying away from the abuse, and to continue praying for that individual. God is love. If you hear it any other way, you are missing the point. Even when people are lost and go to hell, God didnt do it. They made the chose to follow God or not. We all have been given that choice. God doesnt hurt anyone. we do it to ourselves by not hearing HIs voice and obeying Him. He wants us all to be happy and in peace, and living healthy, productive lives as we tell the world about HIM.
Good and evil have always been seperate, always will be. light and darkness do not mix. never have, never will.
Which do we choose, the light or the darkness. I for one choose the light. the light of GOD>>>>>>

It is spiritual, dividing the cultures.
It all began when satan sinned in heaven and was cast out with 1/3 of the angels. Voodoo take part of Catholism and mixes it with witchcraft.

Initially all things were good. God created, and then "saw that it was good". Evil came into being when angels rebelled against God. Evil came upon the Earth when one of those fallen angels tempted the first people to disobey God, and they did so.

The big bang. When space became seperate from energy. When the light seperated from the dark.
The Yin and the Yang. You can not have one without the other, the law of relativity. You know one in comparison to the other.

There is no clear separation between good and evil. They are relative to one's point of view. There are guidelines to living a pure and compassionate life. I think it is better to live consciously that judge good and evil.

cultural moreso. christians also believe at one point they were one. the bible does say god created evil. and if they chose to deny this then they are saying that evil is equal to god in that neither have a creator and both have always existed. if god WAS omnipotent then that would lead us to believe he has power over it?

They were always separate from each other. Otherwise why would you need two words?
