here are a couple of ideas:
i went once to a wedding that the wedding party was royal blue and the bride in champagne color dress. look beautiful and classic.
also i have gone to a blakc tie wedding where the wedding partuies wore black down to the floor dresses and the bride in champagne color dress.
also the wedding party can dress in red, dark green, dark purple.
you want something classic, but elegant, something with the season but not make it the center of attention.

What is your favorite color? Then take that color and lighten it by several shades, that's your color. Or go for a soft solid color with a hint of champagne, to match your dress. Accents of champagne on a lovely rose or sky blue....use your imagination.

I would use a variation of traditional Chsristmas colors. Champagne is a neutral color, so you could use most anything. Maybe soft greens instead of dark and bright greens associtated with Christmas.

Go to jim helm's site. http://www.jimhjelmoccasions.com/color/index.php (Color Availibiliy page) Click on Satin. (You may choose a different material, but for an example).
I suggest: Eggplant, Indigo, Patina or Moss, Sienna, or the Bordeaux is similar to Burgandy. I like the Papaya too but it might be too bright for winter.

If you like burgandy, go with that. Believe me, no one will notice that you had the same color as your sister in law.

Any deeper color will look good.
Hunter/Forest Green would be my top pick.
Plum would work nicely though, as would Blue.
Since its around the holidays Golds and Silvers would look nice too, as would Platinum.
