Look at the story: Genesis 4

Both Cain and Abel bring gifts to god.

God tells Abel, “Good job!”
God tells Cain, “Both you and your gift, well frankly, they stink.”

Cain becomes angry and then god turns around and berates him for that too.

If I treated my children that way I’d be considered an abominable father.

The interpretation is spot on. Read the story but don’t assume that god is good.

I think Cain did it out of love.

------

God: I demand worship! Bring me the first part of your joy!
[Abel brings his finest animals, being a herder, Cain brings his finest grains, being an agriculturalist. They both burn them.]
God: Abel! Awesome. Cain, you held back on me! I curse you.

[later...]
God: I demand worship! Bring me the first part of your joy!
[Abel again brings his finest animals, Cain brings only a blade. Abel makes his sacrifice, then Cain plunges the knife into Abel's heart and burns his brother].
God: ...! What... the... HECK?!
Cain: I loved my brother above all else, he was the first part of all my joy, I have done as you have asked. And for asking this knowing my heart, I curse you and spit on your face, you are a monster unworthy of my further worship, for it has cost me the first part of all my joy.
God: *stutters a bit and cries out to the departing Cain* I CAST YOU OUT!
Cain: *extends his middle finger in the direction of God* I was already leaving.

Because Abel was a SON of Adam & Cain was a Son of the serpent, you have 2 different seed lines there, That serpent in the Garden was a upright creature to do all tha manuel labor for Adam, Then after sin came in God Cursed that serpent & said upon thy belly shall thy go, therefore Adam lost his laborer & since the sepent was to take care of the garden & him being a Son of the Serpent, all he knew to do was bring something that he has grwon to God, while Able being the Son of Adam knew that it was a Blood offering, Now I know you will say Cain was a Son of Adam, no he was NOT Over in the Book of Jude It says Enoch was the 7th from Adam, if you pur Cain as a Son of Adam Then Enoch will be # 8. Now I am going to run the seed line of Adam for you, In Genesis, # 1 ABEL, # 2 Seth, # 3 Enos # 4 Cainan # 5 Mahalaleel, # 6 Jared, # 7 Enoch Now in Genesis 6 we see the 2 seed lines starting to crossbreed. Therefore Cain did not have a revealtion of what to offer God & Abel Did.

It's because God can read the hearts of man. We do not know what a person is truly feeling or thinking, however God does. He knew that Cain had a heart full of wickedness, and God warned Cain about his anger before it became worse. Cain chose not to listen and that is why he let his wrath get the best of him and killed Abel. Can't find the scriptures right now, but it says that what God sees is not the way man sees. And that when a desire becomes fertile, it turns to sin, after one has kept thinking about it.

Cain gave God rubbishy food as a sacrifice and kept the best for himself whereas Abel gave God the best first born sheep from his flock of his sheep. Thats why God only accepted Abels gift, Abel loved God enough to give him the best of his sheep but Cain only gave God second best treating God as second best and sinning.

Cain and Abel had to make sacrifices (burnt offerings) for the remission of their sins. Abel brought a choice lamb from his flock, and Cain brought a vegetable offering. God says that "without shedding of blood is no remission for sins." Abel's lamb pointed forward to the Lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world, but Cain's offering required no shedding of blood, therefore it was not a real "sacrifice". You don't feel bad when you reap a plant harvest, but when you have to take a beautiful young lamb that you and your children have hand-fed and loved, and have to slit its throat to pay for the punishment for your sins, then you feel remorse for those sins. This is why God accepted Abel's sacrifice, but did not accept Cain's. Then Cain, instead of asking God why his was not accepted, grew jealous of Abel and killed him. The whole point was that Cain wanted to do things his way and not God's way, and that pride led to him killing his brother.

the bible confuses people and is not to be used as a moral guide, let alone teaching the stories to people. I think parenting should come from the heart and not the bible, but what do I know.

yah, they say god doesnt play favorites but cmon now. there is favoritism all over the bible, (even though the bible itself says do not hold to favoritism). the jews are "his chosen people", he gave samson special powers, he spoke directly to moses. if he knwos we get jelous easy why does he chose to pick certain of us to stand out.
