Stock jockey. You get good at the market, you don't really have to try. Oh, it's actually hard to do this but it pays off in the end.

I found a work at home company is good standing with the Better Business Buerau. I'm with Stayin Home and Lovin It! and they are partnered with a wellness company that is 21 years old.No get rich quick thing, but completely ligit and flexible. I have physical limitations that prevent me from having a job outside the home, so this has been great. All you really need is the internet and a basic understanding of it, nothing high tech, and a phone. There's no selling door to door, no big investment, and no risk. You can not lose anything if you give it a chance. They give great training, tips, and constant support. I am not alone, they really care and want you to make money. I work with a lot of stay home moms. If you would like more information you may request more information at http://healthybetterme.com/

Just a little advice in searching for a work at home company. I was scamed so many times before finding this and I would like to let you know a few things I learned.

http://search.bbb.org/ is great to look up any company by name, address, or url. Watch out for the name change game. Most companies change their name to excape their bad reputation so they may not come up on the site because they are newly named. I wouldn't trust any company that the BBB doesn't know about. Good Luck and be careful.

A party planner is a pretty low maintenance start up business. You just have to do alot of researching and can more or less be a go between for vendors and clients.
Did you have a career before kids? If you have a specialty you may be able to find a way to cater to a certain business from your home computer. I do CAD from home for an Engineer. After I explained to him the many benefits of not having me in his office, and how having flexible hours increases my productivity, he agreed.
Just need a good sales pitch I guess.
Good Luck. :)

Visit an impartial site like http://www.mlmrankings.com for a snapshot of which companies are generating the most public interest. Then choose which company has been in business the longest in an industry you think you would enjoy - nutritional supplements, personal care, cosmetics, whichever has your interest.
Home based businesses are notorious for having short lives. By finding one with public interest, consumer confidence, and a successful history you will be far better off than jumping in to a 'new home based business opportunity' that based on industry averages has less than a 5% chance of success.

I was looking for the same type of thing, but I didn't want to do home parties, and alot of what is out there is a scam.
So, I got off my butt and started cleaning out the garage, attic etc. with this logic in mind... If I don't love it, need it and it isn't making me money... get rid of it.
I'm selling alot of it on ebay and in the past month I've profited more than $300.
Do your research, ebay or other business first. Good luck.

I am a Lia Sophia rep, and I have friends who do Pampered Chef, Do-Re-Me & You and Tastefully simple. Here's my take on each.

1. Pamered chef: Good quality product. Most pieces are things people will keep forever...which can be good and bad...no need to replenish. Heavy equipment to lug around. Lot's of prep work.

2. Tastefully simple: Delicious products...very fun parties. Again, lots of prep time. Products are really inexpensive, so people do tend to buy it. Yet, most people walk away from a show spending only about $20-$30 from what I've seen. I believe profit is only 24%. Yet, the products are disposable, therefore there is a need for people to call you (ie, you can keep a clientel that can call you for re-fills). I feel like my friend works her butt off for only about $70 a show.

3. Do-Re-Me and You. Relatively new line of toys and music. Great product, but definetely has a niche audience. Targeted towards women with small children. Not much need for clients to replenish.

Now there's Lia Sophia...and I'm sure I'm biased, but here's my list of pros and cons.

Pros: Low start up cost. Excellent jewelry incentives for new advisors (up to $800 in gift certificates over 15 weeks). You get to KEEP your supply. REALLY fun parties. Great hostess benefits (people are drawn to have shows). Incentives during the few months before a new catalogue comes out. 70% discount. Easy shows with little prep and wrap up time. Product is relatively light and easy to carry. They put significant effort into design. Great sales every month that promote increased sales. The lifetime replacement warranty is with the company and not you as an advisor (ie, you don't have to deal with returns). Easy to use website. Fasion is ever changing and people want to keep up with the latest trends (keep coming back to you for more styles). 30% profits earned from your first show! Tierd company. The business plan is that if you do two shows a week (average show reaching $650) and recruit 3 people a year and promote to manager, after that first year you end up earning about $29,000 (with average show sales). If you continue to do two shows a week and continue to recruit 3 people a year you are making 40% on your sales and 5% of your teams sales and at the end of the year, you may reach about $97,000.

Cons: It's not a solid precious metal (although for those looking for fashion jewlery it allows them to keep up with the styles without the high price and feeling of having to "committ" to an item for life). For those in IL, WI, MI, I feel like "everyone's been to a show" and sometimes it makes booking difficult. Compnay is tired, but you still have to do shows (whereas some tierd companies send retro pay from your protogees long after you've stopped selling). Not every item is hand inspected and I find I have to replace a broken item about once a month (although never a problem).

I do work full-time, but hope this will become my "gig" when I have a family. I keep a steady stream of shows...I'm doing 3 or 4 a month, but would definetely need to increase that if I want to make the serious cash.

I do some selling on ebay and it is a pretty good income, but the listing fees are always going up. I too have a son and I do network marketing. You have to do a lot of research and find what is right for you. The one I have joined was very low cost, $2.95 promotional start up right now. I have been very pleased. www.automaticbuilder.com/oneharrycat

Start a family day care business. You are home anyway...you can take in extra children. All you need is a few safety items.... like smoke detectors and such.....contact your county's childcare council for more info and maybe even start up money!!!!
