I have an event coming up in about a month that I want to look my best for. Is is possible to loose five to seven pounds (in a reasonably healthy way) in that amount of time?

Yes, that is well within limits to lose it smart and safely.

Cut intake by 500 calories a day.

Cut out all junk food and sodas.

Increase intake of raw vegetables and water.

Exercies for at least 30 minutes five days a week

I have been on Weight Watchers for a number months. At the beginning I have lost 5-6 pounds a week, and the further I go, I have been dropping 3-4 pounds a week. The system is real easy to follow. I didn't join Weight Watchers, but there is enough information online that you can follow the basic system without having to pay Weight Watchers.

Of course, just start smoking and washing down diet pills with Red Bull... OK, that will work, but it will put you in an early grave. It's really just simple math: burn more calories than you are taking in. Try this:
-Eat less fat and sugar and drink more water (always order water and skip dessert).
-If possible, eat 5-6 smaller meals instead of 3 larger ones (this is difficult, but will raise your metabolism).
-Do 20+ minutes of cardio before breakfast most mornings (anything that will raise your heart rate will do).
-Work out with weights at least 3 times a week.
-Get 6-8 hours of sleep every night (preferably 8).
-Start drinking green tea and taking a multi-vitamin every day (recent scientific research suggests that green tea has potent fat-burning properties).
-Be consistent! Most people don't have the time or self-control to really lose weight and get into the shape they want. Good luck.

If you want to loosen weight, just untie it.

Loose/loosen = untie, unbind
Lose = misplace, decrease

Having said that, it is not unreasonable to be able to lose five pounds in one month's time with a proper diet and exercise. I think people get into trouble (and lose mainly water) when they want to do more than about two to three pounds a week.

I'm glad that you have alloted a whole month, you have a good chance of makin this goal. Good luck!

Sure. Instead of soda drink water. Walk instead of driving short distances and look for reasons not to have that slice of pie. Eat a carrot. It is easy to say something and do it. I struggled this morning and had to eat German chocolate. I'm 5'10" weigh 150, but I still need to watch my diet. Good luck!
