Let me say this, I ask atheists quetions because it seems that they do not use the words of others(jesus, the bible) to convey what they feel. THey express how they feel in the most honest way that fascinates me. I ask the questions because I am intrigued by atheists, because I try to relate to everyone's way of thinking, so that I better know my own. It is the human experience for me the connection of other persepectives that brings me closer to my own truth. Why would someone assume that I mean to convert, because I ask the question of an atheists faith or lack of one.

So far you've been doing pretty okay. You can't please everyone all of the time, so just ignore them. You've asked for our view points, we've provided them, you've accepted them as that -- OUR viewpoint. You have not tried to force yours down our throat though your questions are strongly influenced by your viewpoint.

Some people just aren't secure about their non-belief I suppose, and think just because you come from a believer's position that you're out to get them.

I think your questions have been insightful and I've been pleased to answer them.

Keep in mind that there are a fair number of Christians who use the forum to seek converts. Or tell we're going to burn forever. Or just harsh on us for whatever reason they feel like that day. Sometimes it can be a bit much. And it's way too easy to mis-read a question and assume that someone's another basher.

So please be careful with how you word things and stay aware that this is an issue. There are plenty of 'atheists' on the forum who want a real dialogue and will respond to your respect with respect. (Ignore the rest, they're either cranky, having a bad day, or maybe have just gotten finished with answering the wrong question. ;-)

What you'll generally find is that athiests are quite accepting and tolerant people. Perhaps without an overbearing deity to scrutinize our every movement we tend to become humanists. So there in lies the facisination, how can a nice person like your atheist friend be without "God".
It does not sound like you are losing your faith in God, however it does sound like your starting to loss faith in your faith. I've never met an atheist that told someone that he shouldn't speak to a christian. I have heard members of the church tell people I know to not talk to me because I am a false prophet. But in reality I am just a well informed person who is no longer sold on the religious version of the "truth" and so I go through life still in the search of the aformentioned truth, but finding it or not no longer baers consequences to my resting place in eternity.
Bear in mind, if God were to speak to me in a burning bush or something I would certainly believe again. If some artifact came forward proving his awareness and divinity I would concide. But so far the more I learn the less reason I have for turning back and so life is worth living for its own sake.

I used to lie to people when I was asking about the Bible and say I am an agnostic, just cause I was sick of other atheists bi#tching at me about being a bible thumper.

Had they any intelligence they would have realized I was actually asking an embarrasing question about the bible not trying to convert them at all.

Most people are good people, don't let one or two bring you down.

Maybe you are not meaning to convert, but remember how satan tempted Eve with the knowlege of good and evil. Atheists tempt you by trying to make you think for yourself. Atheists don't realize this will cause you to burn in hell. The bible is clear that this is the path to atheism. We as christians are supposed to do what the bible tells us. We are not supposed to think about things too much. So stay away from atheists if you value your eternal soul.

No, you can ask questions about atheism or other religions than your own without being thinking of converting. Sadly, some people assume that if you ask about another religion than your own your beliefs must be weak and you're about to convert. I disagree with that. You can have strong beliefs and still want to learn about other people's beliefs. Personally I think it's great if people want to learn about other religions and other people's views and beliefs.

the only way God will forgive sinners is that in the event that they settle for his son Jesus Christ as Lord of Lords and their savior. devil will nevertheless deny the diety of Christ to spite what the bible says. God will additionally forgive those in hell already or headed for hell like Hitler, Osama, Heffner, Ted Kennedy and fairly some others in the event that they shop on with the comparable trend. The God of the bible is a forgiving and loving God. He in basic terms needs sinners to love him. yet via fact that those fools think of they understand greater, or money can purchase get admission to into heaven they gained't be present in heaven.

I understand. I don't try to convert people when I ask questions about Christianity. I asked about sin and about prayer and was genuinely curious. I get it. It's cool, I don't think you're proselytizing.
