I have sought out counselling from local police, the Homeland Security website, CIA, FBI, and not had any useful response. Does anyone have the contact of the best resource to call or email if attacked by a terrorist? Is there a safe house program or any where to stay and be protected, when attacks occur?

I was in the navy here is what you can do. 1. take off all contaminated clothes. 2. wash your body thoroughly with a scrub brush. 3.Clean out all wounds thoroughly and then bandage with double wrap to prevent contaminated particles getting into the wound. 4.Once dressed in clean clothes if not available wash them thoroughly each time you wash use new water. use these clothes in the short term but try to find uncontaminated clothes as fast as can. 5. find a proper fallout shelter in your area that usually is the local hospital or govt buildings. get your self checked for radiation poisoning. If red wine is available drink it it helps the body to slow the absorption of radioactive particles and eat only food inside a can or sealed packages. The water in the plumbing is okay for the 1st day after that you will want bottled as you don't know if the plumbing water is drawing from a contaminated source the water had been underground but will circulate out as time goes by drawing from exposed sources. hope i was helpful.

Basically, you are only in danger if you are within a block or two of the explosion. Beyond that the stuff will become diluted to the point where it would take weeks of exposure to cause you any harm.

If you are in an area affected by a dirty bomb:
1) Remain indoors, close doors and windows and turn off ventilation systems. (Allowing the particles in the air to settle to the ground)
2) Wait a couple of hours.
3) Get a piece of plastic or a paper towel.
4) Untie your shoes.
5) _Walk_ to your car (running raises dust)
6) Open the door with the paper towel.
7) drop paper towel on the ground
8) Leaving your feet outside - sit in the seat of your car.
9) Kick off your shoes (and leave them on the ground).
10) Close door.
11) Insure that the cars ventilation is off and drive from area.
12) Find one of those automatic car washes and drive your car through it.

"Dirty bombs' are not as dangerous as the news media makes them out to be.

I've heard you just stop, drop, and roll. Then get up and drink a glass of milk. Then you should be fine.

dirty bombs are primarily intended to incite terror and panic unless you happen to be VERY close to it, you are probably not subject to a great risk, probably more people are going to die trying to flee the area
