The Bible is absolute.

1 Peter 1:25 The word of the Lord stands forever.

Psalm 119:89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed...

The Bible has already changed many times over the centuries. Some of the changes were due to different interpretations of the translations (especially from the Greek, the language in which the Bible was originally written - it didn't have spaces between the words, so you can imagine how that allows for different interpretations).

Also, it has changed many times to suit the interest of the church.

I suggest reading "Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why" by Bart D. Ehrman .

Well, that depends on what you mean by "changing" the Bible. There was a huge fuss about printing the Bible in the vernacular the first time, rather than in Latin, because some people wanted that sort of thing to stay in the hands of the Church Hierarchy, rather than be accessable to the common worshippers.

My mom actually has a Bible from the Seventies with pictures of hippies all over it, written in modern English, called The Way. There are ebonics bibles, poetry bibles, bibles in comic book form, just about anything you can think of to get people to read it.

I think the only reason anybody tries to keep it from changing and evolving, is to keep people in the dark about what they're devoting their time and belief to---hense the term "blind faith."

Because there are things that the Bible suggests that people in the twentyfirst century think are ridiculous.
For instance: A)when a woman is menstrating she must leave her village B)Clams, lobsters, shrimp, and ham is forbidden food C)handicapped people cannot approach the altar of God Lev.21:16-23 D)Paul advises to stop drinking water and vegitarians have departed from the faith E) Slaves should not desire their freedom
Okay I could go on forever, but you get the point.
Jesus said "I have come not to change the law"

God is supreme. Believe in the almighty and you will never need to ponder over the thought about whether Bible is absolute or not ! The essence of each and every religion in the world is to help man build a better society by making him more morally responsible to the society and its growing needs . Your compassion , your love , your sense of duty to serve others in the time of their needs (whether humans or animals or plants), your brotherhood -- all leads to build a better society. Times may change and so are the human needs but these everlasting qualities of man that make him more responsible and which every religion teaches you, will remain forever irrespective of the time .

As in 2 Timothy:

4:1 I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 4:2 Preach the message, be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction. 4:3 For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things. 4:4 And they will turn away from hearing the truth, but on the other hand they will turn aside to myths. 4:5 You, however, be self-controlled in all things, endure hardship, do an evangelist’s work, fulfill your ministry.

God bless you. ~Nise~

So true, God's word is the only thing he says that will not be destroyed by fire.
There is no shadow of turning in him.

But I also believe God does a new thing with each generation.

King David was dying and the people didn't want to let go of the 'good old days" and try their best to do God's work in the flesh by sending a virgin to warm his cold dying body.
When his ministry was over. God wanted to use Solomon to do a new thing.

We need to go with God's moving and let him do the work and get all the praise and glory for who he is. We need to let him reach each generation his way and not hang on to the good old days and this is how worked back when.....

the bible is a living thing it changes every time we learn a new understanding about it, the more insight and understanding the richer it becomes . so to answer your question the bible does not have to change, because we change, and the way we look at things changes.
