I am starting on my diet today and excersizing as well. I would like to lose 10lbs or more by Thanksgiving day. I am not going to eat NO fried foods, sugar, sweet, soda, cheese, any bread, pasta, rice, ect. I would like to know if Saltine crackers are okay to eat with salad or alone? or should I only eat the salad? Are home made beans okay to eat I know they have lots of protein? Can I eat a bake potatoe? I hear that it okay then some say it not? I need help on what other things I can eat as for dinner, I am going to have steak, pork chops or fish for dinner but what sides would be okay? beside vegitables?

You should eat cheese at least. It is a great way to loose weight. Get the string cheese and eat that with a piece of celery and that is a great snack. salads and protien are good for you. The south beach diet has great recipes and things to help your craving for things and keep you healthy too.

You're weight loss goal may be unattainable - it's very agressive. You should try to pace yourself, and keep your weight loss to about 1 1/2 to 2lbs a week. Lose weight to quickly, and your body will start to shut down, in an attempt to save itself.

Crackers are not great for a diet - they are just stach and fat. While I wouldn't suggest comletely eliminating anything from your diet (because your body needs lots of different nutrients, inlcuding fats) you should really try to limit the amounts of starches, sugars and fats. Remember to eat regularly, especially breakfast. Drink water (6 glasses a day, if you can), and try to avoid things that draw water out of your system, such as salt and caffiene.

While fruits and vegetables are really good for you, remember that fruit juices have a lot of calories to them, go easy on them.

The rule I generally follow is, avoid 'white' foods(starchy foods like flour, rice, potatoes, pasta, breads), or 'processed' (especially processed dairy foods like cheese, yogurt, but other processed foods like sausages, junk food) foods, within reason. Watch portions, but don't ever starve yourself. If you starve yourself, your energy level will drop, and your body will not work efficiently.

The body is like a fire. Given too much fuel, poor fuel, or not enough attention, and it will extinguish itself. Give it the right amount of good fuel, and stoke it with activity, and it will become more efficient, producing more energy.

And don't forget to get a good night's sleep. Put yourself on a scheule, and stick to it.

Realistic goals and expectations, regular sleep, regular excercise, regular and resaonble meals, adequate water - that's what you need. Best of luck to you.

Anything is ok to eat in moderation. You can eat saltine crackers just not to much cause the sodium in it is not good. Pasta and rice is ok to eat no bigger than your fist. Same with red meats the portion should not bigger then your fist. Beans are a great source of protein. Just eat in the same logic, look at your fist. Fish is awesome when your losing weight. Porkchops not so good cause it contains alot of fat. But one or two during the week should be fine. Just dont fry them. Take some vitamins. Also take fiber pills cause they are great for digestive system especially since your starting a diet. Also they create a full fillling in your stomache because the swell causing you to control your food intake. Well good luck! Email me for more questions.

You can eat whatever you want as long as each meal is balanced and in proper portion size. Eat 6 small meals per day.

Proper portion examples:

3-4 oz. lean meat or fish
1/2 cup fruit or veggies or 1 small whole fruit (orange, apple, nectarine, peach, plum, tomato)
1/2 cup cooked pasta, rice, potatoes
1/2 potato
4 saltine crackers
1 cup lettuce or mixed salad greens
1-2 oz. cheese
1 T butter or sour cream
1/16 slice of pie or cake
2 small-medium cookies
1/2 cup ice cream or one descent scoop
1 egg
2 slices bacon or sausage links/patties or 1 hot link style sausage
1 slice bread

Sample menu for a day

1 egg scrambled with 2 slices bacon and 1 slice toast with 1 t butter and 1 t jelly

1 small apple and 1 slice cheese

spinach salad with sliced chicken breast, walnuts, cranberries, and peanut vinaigrette

1/4 cup nuts and 1 small orange

4 oz. steak, 1/2 cup steamed broccoli, 1/2 baked potato with 1 t butter and 1 t sour cream

1/2 cup berries with 1 T whipped cream

Drink water with every meal and all throughout the day. If you want a little variety, squeeze lemon or lime or orange in it. If you need a soda and insist on regular, drink it as a substitute for one of the earlier snacks not the last one.
