Yes, it just doesn't seem "right" without them.
It's a southern thing, or at least that's what my Mom used to say.

My sister and that i've got been speaking, and we grew up ingesting this, too. This grew to become into on the lower back of the Lays Potato Chip bag. Tuna Potato Chip Casserole one million/2 lb. potato chips, overwhelmed, divided one million (12 oz.) can tuna, drained one million can cream of mushroom soup (We used cream of Celery soup) scant soup can of milk (We extra a can of peas, drained) place one million/2 the overwhelmed potato chips interior the backside of a small casserole dish that has been sprayed with non-stick coating spray. unfold tuna over it. combine soup and milk. Pour over tuna. Sprinkle with last overwhelmed potato chips. Bake in a sluggish oven, no longer over 350 until eventually warm and bubbly, approximately 35-forty 5 minutes.

In our family we always crumble the chips up and put on top of the casserole
about 5 to 7 minutes before it's done.

My kids would not have eaten it if there were no chips!
Personally, I can do without them myself. Do what suits
your taste (or your kids if you have them!).
