I am 18 years old, and i have a big problem with cutting. I go to a therapist and I am on meds but they don't help with the cutting. I really so want to stop, but I am out of ideas. I have tried things like exercising, writing, and reading when I feel the urge to cut but it doesnt help. I have been in the "mental" hospital 6 times in the last ten months, but the hospitals dont work, and i really want to stop, but i am out of ideas...

surround yourself with people 24/7! make sure you are always with somone so that when you do ahve an urg they can stop you! also tell your couselour yur still doing it! and try reading your Bible, get to know who God is and accept Him into your life. Pray to God and ask Him for His help!

Tell a friend/relative when you feel like cutting and ask them to sit with you until you feel it pass. Try not to be alone when the urge strikes you because this will encourage the behaviour. Speak to your therapist about switching meds as you may be able to find one that works better for you.

Hang in there.

You may really want to stop but have lost all self control. Try to get rid of all the things you use to cut. Also, tell your therapist so you can get stronger medicine. You've got to stop this before you seriously hurt yourself or someone else.

first off you have to want to quit just like smokin or drinkin you have to want it. then to help with the quitting i would say.....

ride bmx(not a regular bike with gears) it's the runners high you get from riding hard is the same as cutting. trust me i've been there. i mean you have to like ride fast for awhile until you just think you're gonna drop dead. just keep going like you ******* can't stop or you're gonna die. it'll be the same feeling just way more intense and longer lasting. when you feel like you're invincible from the serious rush of endorphines try some tricks and wreck(not on purpose but you will eventually wreck) it'll leave scars just like cutting. just your mom wont be as mad. i swear did the same thing when i was 18. you just want to feel alive don't you and you feel alive when you cut don't you. you should also check with a psychitrist and see if he think that you could have a chemical embalance. i'm not saying you're crazy i don't thinl that. but it's highly possible that you could be suffering from low seratonin levels. keep on rockin and suicide is not the answer. some people just need meds to keep their brain chemicals in check sorta like emotional diabetes

try snapping yourself with a rubber band every time you think about cutting. or if you want to cut snap yourself. I think the only person who can stop is yourself. You have to tell yourself that you willl stop. take it one day at a time. Then a week.

I can tell you right now that you really DON'T want to stop. You aren't being honest with yourself. Therapy, meds, mental hospitals....you have had plenty of opportunities to take advantage of all this help and you haven't done it. This is up to YOU and it's no one else's responsibility to get you to stop.....but yours.

remove anything sharp with which you can cut yourself, just get it out of your environment. If you can't do that, then maybe a padded cell someplace is the safest place for you to be. I don't mean to be cruel, but if you lack all self control, you should be someplace you can't hurt yourself or anyone else.

Stick with the therapy, be honest about it with your psychologist. I wish I could offer more but it's the only way out I can think of.
