Try putting hot sauce in the water. Mine used to like to drink out of my humidifiers and plant water until I infused it with Louisianna Hot sauce, works wonders. Then I put catnip around his water bowl so he knows its ok to drink there.

Your cat is probalby attracted to water that has movement. Mine likes the leaky tub faucet. To corect this and get him drinking from his own bowl you can purchase self filtrating water bowls. The filtration part is not what is important. The part cats love is that the water comes down a type of waer fall and makes ripples in the water. This gets the cats attention due to his natural instincs. I would work on getting this behavior under control before training him to use the tiolet.
When you go to train him to use the toilet, don't use what they sell in the petstores, they just break and you will have wet, smelly kitty to deal with. Instead get one of those throw away aluminum roasting pans from the grocery store and fill with a think layer of cat litter. Then place under seat and fold edges so it won't fall in. Then as the cat gets used to it, slowly cut hole in center and slowly fold it in to make hole bigger but leaving a lip to hold cat litter in so it doesn't spill into toilet. The cat litter is uesd just to get them attracted to it initially. After you are done with the training you will no longer need the cat litter. Also stack books or something up side of toilet to encourage the cat to go up there. Over time make the pile shorter and shorter untill there is non left. I hope you have two bathrooms, this is really inconvienent while training if you only have one batheroom.

One of the ways to start the training is to put a garbage bag between the toilet and seat, with a bit of litter. So kitty wouldn't be able to drink the water.
Once she starts using the bathroom in the toilet, I doubt she'd drink the water anymore.

The only way to get an animal NOT to drink toilet water is to put the seat down.
My cousin tried to toilet train his cat. There is a toilet shaped cat box that you put on your toilet to help with the training. When you do this......they cant get to the water.
Good luck.

Make sure there is plenty of fresh clean water somewhere other than the toilet. Then keep the lid of the toilet shut so she has to go elsewhere to drink her water. Keeping the lid shut is safer than putting something in the water.

cats drink from the toilet because typicaly its the freshest water in the house...
dont use plastic for water bowls and it absorbs odors so makes the water taste yucky
dump the cats water and refresh several times a day.. they dont like the dust taste on the surface

Why don't you just close the toilet seat? Thats what we have to do because my one cat will play in the water if we don't.
