Anyone who has been to this place please help. I have to go to a christmas party at the Detroit Athletic club for my boyfriends work. I need to know what I should wear. Should I wear a black cocktail dress or long black pants with a nice top and nice shoes? HELP

Have invitations been issued? If so, what does it say? Black tie = formal evening wear for ladies, whilst Lounge suits (or similar) = a nice dress (trouser suits may be acceptable but it really depends on the firm's culture).

Wear a dress, but not an extremely formal one. This way, if it's casual, there's nothing wrong with wearing a dress-many people dress up for the holidays no matter where they're going. Or, if it is more formal, you will be dressed perfectly.

You can never over dress for a business function. The way you dress reflects directly upon your boy friend.
