Hard to say what indigenous religions might have existed during this time , both in the East and the West. Since these were never recorded and were probably past on by word of mouth like most indigenous religions.
The earliest written records we have of any sacred lore, spiritual or religious are the Vedic Hymns or the Veda from India in the East. Dates back about 10,000 years.
These are extensive and predate and are the main source of the Hindu faith, the Dharma, and Buddhism. Only a small amount of this work, the Veda, has even been translated or made available in the West.(some 125,000 to 50,000 volumes).
Lao-Tzu wrote the Tao-Teh-King (pronounced Dao) around 525 B.C. It was an individual work from China at that time.
The Veda, the Tao, the Dharma, all mean Knowingness.
The Dhyana is what the Buddhists talk about and is their background.
