I am going away with my boyfriend for two nights to edinburgh and want it to be special as he goes back to america for another 6 months. Anyone know of any romantic places to eat drink, wont have much money either so will have to be on the less expensive side as it will just have been christmas, dont want any places which will be loud and rowdy. Been before but it was more for a boozy night out.

grab a bottle of nice wine (or beer whatever you guys are into) some nibbles, cheese, chocolate.......doesn't really matter and aslong as the night is nice (yes I'm sure it'll be cold) walk up to the top of carlton hill or arthurs seat, you'll have a fantastic view of the city, plenty of peace and quiet and fairly romantic stuff too.....I was treated to this one nice and it was great

oh and there's a lovely bar on cockburn st (and there's an std clinic there too, sorry just think it's funny because of the name but it's pronounce 'Coburn....') I can't think of the name of the place now but it has really high open windows and they do food and wine and beer but it's much cosier than most bars and I enjoyed sitting there with my other half watching the world go by

if you are looking for a nice place for coffee you'll have to head into the elephant and castle (jk rowling is supposed to have written some of the HP books here) but apart from all that literary stuff it is a fab little place but try to go as the day turns to night the views from the castle at the rear of the cafe are fab and they do great tea and coffee

finally there is medina, a moroccan style bar that often have salsa dancing among other types of music and if that doesn't get your romantic juices going then there;s always a kebab on the way home

ps enjoy it's a great place

Not right in edinburgh, but only ten minutes by train from the city centre - The Hawes Inn, South Queensferry. It is right down by the river Forth and is almost under the Forth Rail Bridge. Peace and quiet there, but not far from the bright city lights and sights if you decide you want that.
£63 per room per night (for both of you!) including contiental breakfast.

There's a lovely wee pub on Hanover Street called Milnes Bar, its only pub grub, but the food is lovely and not too dear, its quite dark and cosy downstairs, if you don't like it there, there is a load of other wee places around there. I love edinburgh ... you'll have a great time!!!

There is also a lovely wee pub on rose street, part of the hanover hotel, its really quiet and cosy.

Edinburgh is romantic, so no problem there. But cheap
place to stay hard to find. Try tourist office, they will give
you a clue to your quest.
