I had a friend who didnt potty train their daughter until she was 3 1/2. It was hard. They tried a potty party off of the dr. phil website but it only worked for one day. I've heard they have to want to do it, but I'm working on it now with my 11 month old. I let him walk on our private porch naked so he is aware of when he is going and quickly get him to his potty. If I know he is pooping in his daiaper I take him immediatly to the potty and put him on it and if we dont make it in time, we take whatever was in the diaper and flush it in the toilet. He loves that part, but he now says "uh-oh" when he doesnt make it to the potty so he is aware of what is going on even if he didnt when we started the process. It might take awhile but it does work. best of luck!!!

Boy or girl??? My son is 28 months old, and he dosen't have any interest in the potty. I have tried on several occasions to train him, even using big boy underwear only, but to no avail. Every child IS indeed different and you'll just have to find something that works for you. You could try stickers, or like 5 m&m's for a prize. Maybe that will motivate them. Or buy a drink and wet doll and show them that even the dolly uses the potty. Then let them pick out their own potty chair, and remind them of the rewards they will recieve.

This is one of those "go with your gut " things. My oldest daughter was trained very early. She went everywhere with me though, especially the bathroom.we also watched alot of "Bear in the Big Blue House" and her favorite episode was a potty training one.On the other hand, my youngest wasn't trained until 3 years old.She simply has her own way of doing things.Same treatment, videos, and maybe even more attention, but she has done everything later than her sister.
Don't worry....kids do it in their own time..lol
A little trick we used though was tootsie rolls.....My youngest loves them so we use them as a reward for every kind of good behavior. She got a tootsie every time at first, then a tootsie for a full day of no accidents. Now as a 4 year old she does her chores for points on a board, and an allowance. Might sound like bribery to some, but it worked for us.
Good luck , and relax

every child is different. i have one daughter and 3 step daughters. one was potty trained at 18 months. one wasn't trained until she was 4, my daughter is potty trained now at 3 and the other one will be 2 in jan. and is just starting to potty train. they each have their own way. you can try now, but if it doesn't work dont push it. when i took my daughter to the doctor for her annual visit when she was 3, she still wasn't potty trained and the doc said it wasn't a big deal and that pushing her wouldn't work. so try it but if your child doesn't go then don't push it.

Look for the signs....is your child still dry in the morning? Does your child take their diaper off by themselves? Does your baby run to the potty or just point to it? Can your child say "potty" or talk really well? If so, then your baby is ready. If not....then wait awhile yet.

i started potty training my son at 1.5 years old..we tried and tried, finally i gave up...not but a few months later, he came up to me and said that he had to pee..i said, ok you got a diaper on so just go...he ran his little butt into the bathroom, tore off the diaper and peed, he has been going every since and never had a set back...

i decided that he should tell me when he wants to pee like a big boy..please dont allow them to go until 3 or 4 years old, that kind of disturbs me...but yes, it is very possible for it to work

First you child has to be ready, if not it's a waste of time. I slowly introduce them to the toilet, let them sit on it even if they don't "go" clap your hands and let them flush. Keep working on this till they get in the habit of trying, if they are scared try a potty if that doesn't work give it more time.

you have heard them potty training yes but did you hear that it was truly working though? anything is worth a try but if it doesnt work guess you just have to wait anyway! why are you rushing anyways? your baby will grow up soon enough...

Like you said, every child is different......try it. If he/she has no desire to even try to do it, give up and try at a later date, you aren't going to be able to force him to learn at that age. If he/she seems to be interested, but doesn't quite make it in time, or thinks about it after it is too late.....keep trying....if he's thinking about it, he's ready to learn. Also, if it is not your firsst child, they usually learn faster, at a younger age. They have an older example, and that often makes them want to try it. Whenever it does happen, and you can get rid of those f*ucking diapers.....it's a form of heaven.

everychild is different don't go by age go by what your child is doing can your child pull up and down his pants does your child call his pee and poop by name does he know when he does it you need to look at the signs because if you push the issue your child will be potty trained even later.........
