Ask the nurse at your doctor's office for a recommendation.

Normally, I treat the things that prevent getting a comfortable rest since none of the stuff actually CURES anything. A cold takes a certain amount of time to get over and all the meds can do is to ease the symptoms.

In this case, I'd probably just use a safe asprain-substitute to ease any achiness, and offer a warm room with a humidifier to make comfortable. Warm liquids, rest, and comfort as well.

I normally would not get more aggressive with meds until I saw a fever, breathing trouble, hard coughing, etc.

Yea get some childrens tylenol. That really works well for colds, They have it in cough and cold formula. Give your child a nice warm bath, using some vapor bath, rub johnson and johnson vapor rub on their chest and a little under the nose. And make sure to push the fluids!!!And use a vaporizer if needed, prop your child up with pillows at night, helps them breath easier and will help with the coughing!!!GOODLUCK!!

I have a 17 month old and I normally give him the tylenol cold for kids or benadryl. I also give him pedialite and no milk or very little milk. I will recommend that you call your Dr's nurse before giving him anything. If you have given him /her this medicine before then you may be o.k. but better be safe than sorry. Hope your little one feels better soon. the warm bath will help and the steam will help him losen up anything.

My Dr told me when the kids had a cold, chest congestion ect to take the milk away..Milk makes everything thicker. and it really made sence. try using whatever kind of cold medicaton your Dr recommends, but also loose the milk for a few days and see if it helps her conjestion.

all of the suggestion(s) you have read so far work good (if you have the patience to wait several days for them to kick in and actually work) if you and your child wish a speedier relief ( pardon my colloquial english) try light slathering of "vicks" on the childs chest and then covering the chest with a warm towel and allow the vapors to infuse the sinus cavities and chest area

You shouldn't give your baby any over the counter medicines. You need to take him to the pediatrician if worse an emergency room. You never know what side effects may occur or allergic reactions.
