your vet will be able to tell you. i know when we have talked about traveling out of the US they have said to contact the embassy of that country to see what they require because of quarantines. Rabies shots aren't that much money. Is your dog going to be in a bag on the plane? One of those little pet purses? If so, try to get him used to it...put him in it for a few minutes and build that up until he is more comfortable. Maybe that will help. Good luck and safe travels!

You will need a health certificate from the vet. The vet will be able to tell you what shots are needed. The rabies only cost around $10 here, but may be higher there. You can ask the vet for a mild sedative to give him just before the flight to keep him calm.

I would contact the airline in which you are flying, the may require a Health Certificate for your dog (depending on where you are flying from too), once you have this information, I would then call your vet and discuss this with them, they will know if you need a Health Certificate to travel as well as what vaccines your pet is required to have. Safe trip.

Why is everyone's response always "call the vet"?

Anyway, here's the US Customs requirements for traveling with pets.
