What a dumb question.You CANT if you want to give each kid a whole cookie and keep a whole cookie in the jar.Anyway why do you feel this urge to keep one in the jar?You could give each kid a half then add up all your leftover half to make five so you would end up with five cookies left in the jar but they would be in halves.

One of the kids is an infant and can't have one. OR these kids aren't even yours so just tell them there are no cookies and you get to keep all the cookies for yourself. hahaha
