Hey, our hair grows, so that is a myth. However, contrary to what most people think , African American hair is very fragile so it breaks extremely easily. It is important to treat is gently, shampooed, use a very good moisturising conditioner, and keep it trimmed. Find a really good beautician who won't over process your hair and you will find that it will grow. I don't use perms, and my hair is below my shoulders.
If you research it, there is a lot of good information out there on the proper care of our hair.

this is due to the way the follicle is shaped some are oval which cause a wavy pattern so it grows from side to side, some are flat so they come out the follicle side to side but think of it as a tighter squeeze, then theres the circle shape comes out straight which makes the hair seem as though it growing faster than the other 2 but for real its not. it just doesnt have to go through as much to come out. diet and climate plays a big part in growth. most not all people hair in warmer climates grow a little faster because there scalp stays moist. in the colder region or those more prone to seasons your hair slows down a little when its winter.
does this help a little?

With the right hair care, it will grow as fast as others. Our hair may grow short and curly at the scalp, but it also is some of the strongest hair against the odds.

its not true.....the hair grows at the same rate, unless there is a medical condition....it is just harder to see the growth because of the curl being so tight to the scalp...and because of all the processing and styling that blacks to, it is more likely to break and not grow as long....relaxers are verry hard on the hair
