You can apply as often as you want. I have more than one credit card from the same company. But if you are denied, then that fact is kept in their system for awhile. I think the 6 month period someone else has suggested, while not etched in granite, is a pretty good rule of thumb, especially if you are waiting upon items to clear or be straightened out on your credit report.

As many times as you want, but every time you apply and there is an inquiry on your credit history, you are running the risk of wrecking your credit (especially if you have lots of declines). Best practice, if you apply and are declined, wait at least 6 months before reapplying to the same company.
