Check out the prices in your local area, the Auto Trader and similar publications have different editions for different areas and common vehicles like your ford vary in value from area to area.
You are selling a 7 year old vehicle so service history is important and it may well not have had the cam belt changed yet, at 43k yet it is very old at over 6 years, so physical condition, dents etc will probably be more important than mileage.
Read the Price guides, Parkers and buy the one with the highest prices to show the prospective purchaser that it is really cheap.
A couple of tips, dont let the prospective purchaser drive it except on private land, he almost certainy will not be insured and permitting to drive uninsured is 8 points on the license, Get the money before you hand over the car, that is cheque cleared or cash, and dont prat about with AA inspections, they always want a price reduction afterwards.

Go to www.kbb.com and follow the directions to price your car by telling them the make, model, mileage, and all of the other details. This website (Kelly Blue Book) is the industry standart for car pricing.

Keep it, drive it until it has 200,000 miles on it, or until it quits and isn't worth fixing, whichever comes first. Then you have gotten your worth out of the vehicle.
