I hear christians think that Jesus is God. Do they therefore really believe that there was this baby born, a baby! with no control of its bladder or bowels, that could not talk and had poor coordination etc. yet at the same time had a complete understanding of the universe?

you really think that?

Interesting you should say that, because now that I have my kids I think that we are much closer to spiritual perfection as babies. I mean, we have just left "heaven and god", right? We are small and helpless and yet we are catered to our every whim - and quickly too. It makes me think that the univers is not actually that complex - we make it much more complex as we grown and try to control and label it.

I am not a christian, but I do believe that we are all beloved divine children of the universe - so you see I do agree with Jesus when he ways we are god's children and we all have the power of god within us.

Peace!

I believe that, in order to reconcile Himself with Man, that God had to live a complete life of a human and die like a human while still being sinless.

He was born, just like any of us. He died in probably a worse way than any of us. Yet, he showed us what righteousness is.

He also forgave us. While, He did die for our sins, He showed He has authority over the death of Sin by being resurrected.

In my personal faith, I also believe that Jesus was not omnipotent as a human, but had the same connections to the Father above just as any person. He had to face the pain of being separated (with Himself) as a person would.

For a God who is a spirit, to take flesh is one of the greatest exercise of humility and obedience. Jesus did not have to undergo this experience but he wanted to save mankind from its own destructive ways because of his great and immeasurable love for all of us, so he became as a man through the natural process. This is the reason why Lucifer became Satan, he wouldl not honor a spirit taking flesh.
It is like if man was god and man was dog, will you as a man would become dog to save other dogs?

Well, first off, you heard wrong. Christians do not believe that Jesus is God. Jesus is referred to as the Son of God. And as far as the "baby" part of the question, who's to say it didn't happen like that, or that it couldn't happen?

Yes. He was, after all, born as a human. Having a full understanding of the universe didn't excuse him from growing up as a human would.

Jesus is human. But he is way ahead of his time, compassionate and kind hearted and a genius. He is the founder of Christianity. I don't think he ever claimed to be God. Unfortunately, his followers made him God.

I think that's not the point of the story;) The point of the story is that god made a part of himself human to experience what humans go through.

It's best not to take ancient myths literally because they lose their meanings if you do. Part of the beauty of the story is not the physical aspects, but the spiritual. Granted, lots of people take the story literally, so I can see your point. It is silly to take it as absolute fact.

find another person who has resurrected as He said or resurrected others in His name and then we can talk. Of course there isn't anyone else. They all died and became dust, same as you will too eventually. If God decided to help us by sending His Word in the flesh, that's upto Him. Who is the clay pot to talk to the creator and tell Him how he should plan to redeem us ?

Truly amazing, isn't it? That the Lord of Creation would condescnd to take on such a weak form for love of us! Yes, He did! But what was even more amazing was His willingness to give up his life on earth to take the punishment due us for our failures! Greater love than this has NO man!

Personally, I believe Jesus was the son of God, and that His dad still had things pretty well under control.
