First of all, I am happy to hear that you are trying to be a responsible pet owner by having your pet neutered. I have 2 cats and a dog, all fixed. I had then all neutered when they were 6 months old. The only change I could see in them was that they became more mellow. They were still playful and just as cute. The best part of having it done when they are at least 6 months old is that they don't ever spray and they don't go into a frenzy when a female cat goes into heat. Both of my cats are indoor cats and have never been outside and they are both males. They are also almost 11 years old. I have had so much enjoyment out of them. They are my kids!!! Good luck!

Neutering male cats does calm them a bit, yes, but they're still playful if that's the way they were before the procedure. Both of my previous male cats were playful their entire lives, well into old age and up until just a week or so before dying of old age, and their cute and funny quirks didn't change at all. If anything, they developed more of them over the years, as they bonded with me and learned my likes and dislikes and how to get my attention and some nice scratching under the chin and behind the ears or a treat. They generally also get more affectionate and stay closer to home. Cats are great!!

If he's a spaz now, neutering won't change that. What mellows a cat out is age; my younger cat is just over a year old, was fixed at around 6 months of age, and didn't lose any of his cuteness or goofy behavior. He still loves to play, still runs around like a crazy man, and is still just as funny as ever. (I even taught him to fetch...which is hilarious!) The benefits to neutering are great: no chance of unwanted kittens; no insane sexual behaviors like spraying or caterwauling; and no chance of reproductive cancers that could shorten a cat's life. You and your kitty will be much happier if he is neutered, and he'll still be just as cute.

No, what changes them is age, he will probably become more mellow around a 1 1/2. Kittens are definitely going to grow up one day. I had mine neutered last weekend and he acts like nothing has even happened, it's amazing, he has not changed a lick! Have a great day.

Well, he'll settle down a little just when he gets older--all kittens do. That's just part of growing up.
But you'll be sparing yourself from marking if you neuter him before he starts doing it (if you neuter him afterward, you'll probably be stuck with it) and he won't want to roam and fight if he gets out in the world.
Neuter the little pooper! Altered pets are happier because they don't have all those sex urges they can't fulfill. Ugh. Cat sex is nasty. I realize cats have to have sex to have kittens, but I don't want my little kitty bits having sex. She's spayed.

while he pees he's marking his territory so different male cats will understand that its his. Getting him mounted will end that want, its no longer merciless, its some thing that desires to take place. My cat used to pee everywhere and now that he's mounted he would not try this anymore. different than that no longer something approximately him has replaced.

It will make him a lot less hyper and he wont spray your home. Males spray because they mark their territory and because they are trying to attract a female. So I think it would be for the best to get him fixed.
