I currently use Dish Network and have a DVR receiver that I really like. Which is the best depends on a couple of factors:
1. What do you need it to do. Dish has a new DVR that handles HD off the air and the Satelite in one system and allows you to record multiple shows at once.
2. What you want to watch: Dish has the best soccer but only DirectTV has the NFL football package.
3. What you want to pay: Check out both sites and see which has the programming at the price you want to pay.

If you mean service and receiver. I would definitely have to say Dish Network with the DVR receiver. Dish Network is ranked #1 by consumer reports. In addition, I have had both DirectTV and Dish Network and there is no comparison when it comes to quality of customer service and reliability. To top things off, Dish Network is the cheapest service. As for the receiver, you have to go with the DVR it is so worth it.
