Do you think that wearing a cross kinda serves to immortalize Jesus's death, as opposed to his message? I mean, if Jesus were martyred THIS century, would people be wearing little golden electric chairs around their necks?

Some people believe in immortalizing his Passion by showing the gruisome way in which he died.

Others display the Living Christ though to immortalize his message. Both have their advantages I suppose.

At our own death if we ended up in an electric chair next to him--yes we would. I would like to say though that there were three crosses on Calvary and only two were going to Heaven so I would be very concerned just wearing a cross--I would be sure that The Body of Christ was on the one I wore as it is his sacrifice that matters.

I see it as a message of hope and suffering. Jesus suffered for us and nothing that happens to me in this life will ever compair to what he went through. I have hope that I, as he did, will rise above it all. I do not see it as immortalzing death, but the moment before it was triumphed. That moment, and the knowledge of what comes after it, was Jesus's message.

I think the point is to remember what he did for you. Yes, I think people would wear electric chairs or symbols of car bombs or whatever took him out.

BTW I don't believe in Jesus or anything.

Jesus never died any the cross. He didn't die at all.
I wear an ankh around my neck. It is an egyptian cross, in case you didn't know.
It repesents life.
Anyway, for the people who wear them i think it has to do with the sacrifices that he made for them.
Jesus didn't "die" on my behalf so i do not have to be reminded of his sacrifice.

It really depends on what you want to know about crosses... Yes Jesus was crucified on a cross with two other people...if you don't know the story read the first half of the old testament.
it will tell you more than you really know now as it is... have funn reading it really is interesting

wearing a cross is a symbol of what HE did for each person. there are some who wear other religious symbols as well such as the fish or a dove which is up to the individual

its what they believe in, they honor that jesus died for their sins..etc. Im not overly religious but i dont believe in bashing peoples religion its just extremely immature.. not everyone has to believe what you believe, only george bush feels that way.
