I have a small group of pagan, wiccan, CUUPs, and new age friends and we would like to do a small Halloween ritual. I've been in rituals, but never designed one myself. We would like to take this opportunity to honor our ancestors and departed friends, as well as the final flourish of the earth before dying down for winter.

Anyone have any ideas of where to start? I've done Halloween rituals with sending messages up to loved ones by burning, but we're all novices at actually creating our own rituals.

A good ceremony to honor the departed is a dumb supper. You have the meal in silence and set out plates for those not there. That is the main ceremony I do. For the meal you can use traditional harvest foods - potatoes, ham, venison, cabbage. If you have a spot for a bonfire you can do that too and work a circle around it.

I also do some tarot readings for friends, and a ritual cleansing.

No by no means I love this time yr. The most effective factor that makes me loopy is while specified individuals attempt to spoil it for the children via seeking to get rid of the halloween gown parade and events in faculties and turning the day into the "Autumn pageant". Some that is considering that now it's referred to as a Pagan vacation. I am Pagan and now have fun Samhain too of path however I additionally cherished the complete trick or treating factor as a child and likewise appeared ahead to the gown parade at my university. It makes me very disgusted to listen to that now a few faculties won't enable specified costumes considering that they do not desire their children dresing up as witches, devils, vampires or whatever they deem "evil" or violent. Ok I can see now not in need of your child to decorate like an ax homicide for Halloween however the different stuff is traditional. Let the children have a laugh for cryin' out loud and fairly messing with my favourite vacation.
