He was subjected to all kinds of demeaning tests locked in a cell for three days , had all his clothes and possessions taken away from him, proded poked and photographed.
Then was told the accusing girl had an argument with her boyfriend and fabricated the whole storey.
Now he feels he has been raped by four police officers and there is nothing he can do about it ! Its really changed him.
He was a stong confident man who has been destroyed by a pathetic attention seeking girl who he had never seen and still doesnt know her name or what she looks like! By the way she didnt even get a fine , let alone a sentence.
A few years have past now and the girl has probably forgotten about it , while my friend still suffers.
At the time no one was interested in helping him, is there anything he can do now?
Let me know what you think ,

Your friend needs a new focus in his life.
Perhaps if he were to start a campaign to change the law so that the accused in a rape case gets anonymity.
I would sign up to that one. The law is definitely loaded against the male.
Police Officer training should be different too. Not all cases of suspected rape end in a conviction in Court and the damage could be avoided.
My heart goes out to your friend.

A common story my friend unfortunatley. The police still seem to protect the identity of the women first and in this situation was proved to be a liar. More and more stories are in the papers about this and sometimes the girl is exposed. Example should be in the papers to deter other women from making false claims.
But on the other hand i guess the police were doing only what they are supposed to in collecting evidence. As traumatic as this was it had to be done. Now the truth is exposed maybe going to local citizens advice and getting him to ask them if he any rights at all maybe against this women for defamation of character. I dont know the law on this but may be worrth looking into.

It's horrible, and I sincerely hope your friend is able to recover and move on. However, statistically, very few men are convicted of rape. I know a woman similarly damaged. She was raped by her flatmate's boyfriend, went through hell taking him to court, but the judge didn't believe her. The man had entered her room while she slept, and by the time she awoke he had penetrated her and was about to orgasm.
She was a teacher, an Irish girl and a virgin. Went back to Ireland, never married, never got over it. He left court jubilant, his friends and family all cheering that he had got away with it.
The police have to take rape accusations seriously and investigate thoroughly because judges practically require photographic evidence. So he should sue the accuser if he can - she deserves it - but please remember the other side of the story

He needs to take legal advice
I think it is disgusting and happened to a friend of mine too. As far as I am aware, she was never charged with any crime, taken to court or punished.
He suffered the same as your friend and was suspended from work - all the gossips were hard at work too.
The thing is there was not a SHRED of forensic evidence to support her claim. She had cried rape on several previous occasions, said she was a virgin ????????? and had a social services file as thick as you could believe.
Maybe he should also seek counselling and if succesful with any legal action, a FULL apology from the girl in ALL the national newspapers. Admitting that she is a stupid, insensitive, lying cow. And with a full colour picture of her too!

Well I really don't know what to say. Unfortunately due to a minority of evil men who are guilty of such a crime their are others, like your friend, that are subjected to such an interagation ordeal for a crime that they haven't had anything to do with.
I've never been near anyone in such a situation and having to deal with the aftermath. Logically I would try to approach his GP to seek help, if he wants something or someone not involved with his medical records, then maybe approach the sarmaritans, they cover a lot of areas. Good luck and best wishes for the furture.

Probably nothing can be done to get justice but he should certainly see a mental health professional. Maybe some medication can get his serotonin back on track. The shock of something like that and the injustice of it could have upset his system and only getting past it will help him.

No charges were brought up against the lying b.itch (sorry- girl)?? I would definitely want to talk to the district attorney and see what they have to say about it. I'm pretty sure it's against the law to fabricate something as severe as a rape charge....

There are probably charges he could pursue depending on the girls age....but...i would think the police went a little too far.
You can't blame the girl for the actions of the police.

He should definitely go for counselling. He had a sh*t and unfair experience but his emotional response at this stage is disproportionate to the event. It is time to move on and he clearly needs help to do this.

guilt surpasses time,as in why tell you.?.but in uk you can follow charges up till 4 years after original claim, nobody else knows if this person is innocent, but basic human rights acts should cover him.as with all cases he needs evidence, which i find hard to prove as it will all be hearsay in the end.
