Last night my four month old pup vomited dog food (looked like he ate to fast) and it was a little late at night so I put him to bed. I got up to feed everyone at about 2am and say that the newspaper had been stained with urine but also was reddish in color. He didn't want to eat so I took in to be with me he did however act happy and playful. He slept the rest of the night there no issues. This morning he ate some food and acts happy etc. My husband is out till tomorrow and I don't drive. So I can't get him into a vet till then. Any idea what is wrong with him? I would think the blood or reddish urine is not a normal thing then again he seems ok now. I am really upset so any help would be great till I can get him seen!

The pup needs to see a vet as blood in the urine is not normal. Possible things it could be...bladder or kidney abnormality or infection. If you can get a sample (clean flat container under the pups rear end and lots of patience!! Then put it into a well cleaned and rinsed bottle of some sort) take it to the vets with you when you go.

I cant really answer the part about your ovaries because I am a guy. But for your bloody stools you may have Crohn's disease or I.B.S syndrome. Chron's is when the inside of your digestive system becomes in flammed. Gastrointestinal symptoms are abdominal pain, stools (which may be visibly bloody), vomiting, or weight loss. I have this and I have been able to keep it under control but it is total hell when you have an outbreak. My other though on this is that you might have a infection that has gotten very bad. Think of it like when you get a cold, your nose becomes full of that nasty mucus. Well you may have an infection and this is your body trying to fight off the infection. Just rest easy untill your appointment and drink lots of water. If your constipated try drinking metamucil or if you dont like to drink it you can take the capsules which are just as good. If any pain at all starts to happen get to an emergency room ASAP because this could mean either the infection is starting to beat out your immune system and you body will start to shut down or you may have some internal slowly bleeding or you may have a ruptured organ. If you have been in any accidents recently this is most likely. Im not trying to scare you but please seek medicial help if this starts to cause you pain. I hope you get well soon

I'm not a vet, but it sounds like your dog might have a urinary tract infection. He could also have a prostate infection - symptoms include swelling of the penis and testicles. If he keeps eating and seems happy, you can probably put off your vet visit until your husband is back, but if he starts acting weak and lethargic, get him to the vet as soon as you're able.

First off, why in the world are you getting up at 2 a.m. to feed anyone? Dogs only need to be fed about a cup in the morning and again in the afternoon - period! - depending on what kind of food you are feeding and what kind of dogs you have. Yes, i do think that he needs to see the vet to check his urine - but give him plenty of water until then and don't force feed him - he may just be overeating!

i had a cat with the same problem and he had a urethral obstruction, im not sure if its common in dogs. he was bleeding from the penis area and i took him to the vet and he got treated he is doing good now. i wouldnt really worry about it unless your dog is not eating and is throwing up and being lathargic. Careful what the vet tells you because sometimes they are just out for the money and they will tell you anything just to let yu fess up and pay. oh and please do not put him to sleep if he is in bad shape , let them die on their on. he;s probably just a little sick and needs maybe medication, but i hope he gets better all the best of luck to you and please keep me posted on how he is doing. hope i helped.

My cat once had blood tainted urine. I brought him in and they did an ultrasound, he had crystals built up in his bladder and now he has to have a low acid cat food. He also needed meds to break up the crystals. The problem with animals having pain/trouble with urinating or defecating is they start to associate the act with pain and that leads to other problems. Good luck with him.

If he has blood in his urine he might have a bladder infection, so when you husband gets back I suggest taking your puppy to the vet to get him looked after.

Hope your puppy will be alright ^_^

Could be a bladder infection or maybe more serious. I'd get it checked out. Better safe then sorry.

Do you think it may have been some ink from the newspaper bleeding through? They do sometimes have color ads.

If you don't think that's what it is, he needs to be seen asap.
