New York and California, but you can skip LA. New York City is a place full of energy and activity. I grew up close to it, and always loved going into Manhattan for shows, restaurants, musuems, clubs, etc. I live in San Francisco now, which is beautiful for the city AND for the coast, the mountains, the people.... I guess it depends on what you want, but I'd skip the south and the middle entirely.
OH! Must see the desert in Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado. Beautiful. Lived down ther for a while. Sedona, Taos, Albuquerque, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches Nat'l Park, Moab.....

You'll want to see New York City, but don't spend your whole trip there. Unfortunately, this country is so enormous that it is difficult to see much within three weeks. People live here their whole lives and never see opposite coasts. But I'd check out Seattle on the west coast, Montana in the north (its the most beautiful state by far,) Virginia if you're at all interested in history, Colorado if you want to go skiing or snowboarding, and Florida or South Carolina if you want to hang out at the beach. Keep in mind that those are spread all over the nation, so decide what you want to do before you decide where to go. Have fun!

It's difficult to get the right answer to this question from other people--you'll have to decide what you are interested and what you want to see.
I'm a big time tourist and what always works for me is to read travel books and then plan my trip. If you want to consider a group tour, check out www.contiki.com. If you want to go by yourself, you may find Lonely Planet, Rick Steve's tourbooks very helpful.

It would be more helpful if we, the Y users, knew what you liked, your interests. I like the mountains, some like the Cuban feel of Miami Florida. What time of year are you planning to come visit? There is such a variety here until we know what interests you, we really can't tell you what to see and where to go.

Depends on your interests. I would say if you like nature then travel to Utah. Ever part of the state is a different scenery. But if you don't want to travel around very much then try Yellowstone in. If you want to party then california, new york, or Florida.

If you happen to make it to Chicago, try the stuffed pizza and a sandwich called "an Italian combo". It's made with thinly sliced roast beef seasoned in beef broth with an Italian sausage thrown in. You can get it with mozarella cheese. Taste great, incredibly unhealthy.

it depends on what time of year, where your from and what you like to do, because the US is so diverse in diferrent locations, vegas is cool but little stressful. NYC, Florida, and SoCal may be nice as well.
