At about 3 weeks. Just be gentle and make sure Mom is OK with it. If she doesn't want you messing with them, she might move the nest somewhere you can't find them.

Every litter I have ever had I held them as soon as the mom got them cleaned up. If you do handle them this young make sure your hands are clean, and dont hold them too long. So long as it didn't make momma nervous. Kittens need to be handled early so they can start making bonds with people and are used to being handled. I have never hurt my cats from handling them so early nor have I ever had a mother reject her kittens because they were handled by humans like some other people believe^^^. They start getting really fun when they open there eyes (around 2 weeks). That is when they get curious about the world and start exploring. After that around 3 weeks they will really start going because there balance is getting better and they can walk good. This is the time they start to play. Enjoy.

Try not to handle kittens until they are at least 5 weeks of age or older.

Handling them to soon can cause an array of problems. In some cases handling kittens to soon the mothers wouldn't even take them back and they would die.

Make sure that their eyes are fully opened before handling. But keep in mind if you HAVE to move them or handle them young, use a towel to help.

i never play with my kittens until their eyes and ears are open and the momma cat starts letting them wander around and explore. that's different for each cat so i would let the momma decide. if she let's you pick them up(after eyes+ears are open) than i would go ahead and play with them. the earlier you start a relationship with your cats the more love there is in your relationship.
Good Luck with your kittens!

Agree but whenever the mother is willing to let you play with them and not reject them, and, of course, they are playing themselves, with each other. That is a sign that they are ready for play with others.

They have to stay warm for a while so handling they may expose them to cooler temps. I would wait till their fur has grown a bit. Prob. about a month.
