I am not sure there is one god, many gods, or no god/gods... Those who believe there is a god or many gods believe because they have faith that what they believe is right...
Each person has the option of believing in what they chose... I will not tell anyone thier belief about religion and all it entails for them is right or wrong... Just as I would hope no one would foist thier religious belief on me...
Each persons faith is engrained in them created by a mixture of beliefs taught to them as children and beliefs explored as an adult...
If you want to think about something extremely odd, riddle me this.... All major religions around the world have a base in a three or trinity configuration with a father a son and third party(holy spirit, angle, etc) ... This configuration can take on many forms but always contains the distinct 3 who may or may not combine into one in parts of the theology...

I don't believe in only one god. I just put my faith in one particular god, and well goddess.
I think where the belief there is only one god that exists is from Jewish tradition. The Jewish as I was taught (from a Jew), believe you are supposed to honor only the one god, not that others do not necessarily exist but that they are not to be worshiped, honored or acknowledged. The reason why Jesus can not be the son of God to them. This somehow changed over the decades to where there are no other gods but the one in the Christian faith. I could be wrong though.

YEP!
Prove it!
You're quoting from Exodus 20: 5 The ten commandments.
it also says "you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor".
You forgot the sentence afterward "I the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me. And in verse 6: but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love me and keep my commandments.
there are no other gods:
Revelation 1: 8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
There's more...just gotta lay down the pride and selfish desires.

Actually, the concept of there being only one God is impossible with so many different people claiming to believe in God. God is different for everyone, so there has to be a different God for each and every one of them. No one, not even all the Christians, believe the EXACT same thing about God.

the Bible indicates there are many 'gods', little g. But only one True God Almighty. History shows that humans have worshiped many different gods right up till today. Take a look at Psalms 83:18.

The BIble says there is only one God. People in the Old Testament often made idols to worship other gods, gods of their own creation, but none of them were truly God.
As far as being jealous, God is jealous when our attention isn't turned towards Him. He's our creator and made us for a purpose and one of those purposes is to worship Him.
There will never be any "proof" that there is only one God, it's something you have to reach on your own. The Bible is a good place to start, as is finding a good, Bible-based church.

It is a debatable statement - Some think that the statements of the Old Testament are henotheistic ones. MY god vs. YOUR god, not so much meaning MY god and YOUR imaginary god. Even recognizing these gods, however, is thought by some to be reason for why God turned on Israel and sent them on a long, Babylonian "vacation."
As for jealousy, well... the Biblical usage of the term is one of those double-edged words, holding both a negative and positive meaning. Think of the word "Intolerant." Does it not convey an immediate negative connotation? What if I said I was intolerant of injustice? The fact is, the Jealousy of God is not to be taken as the literal, earthy jealousy, rather an emotion that is exclusive to the divine - a drive not only that we love and serve Him for His own glory, but for our own good.

I believe that the Bible is true. The Bible is very clear about this. God does not want us to worship any other gods..He is aware of our need for other gods because when we want to pick and chose what tickles our fancy.
But if you want to be with God after you die, Jesus is the way. If you do not want ot be with Jesus, then do as you please.

Man-made gods...ie idols.
God is stating, quite emphatically, that worshipping a creation or an intermediary is evil. Thus, when one has a request of God, one should take that request straight to the source...and most of all, one should never consider himself or herself as an equal to, a replacement for, or intermediary for God.
