Any options considered aside from walk/run/cycle/drive/etc...

2006-10-25 05:08:40 · 21 answers · asked by Andrew J 1 in Travel Asia Pacific Thailand

I live in London and need desperately to go back out there but cannot afford to pay £700-odd again. Walking/driving/swimming/cycling/hitch-hiking not an option... I guess train isn't out of the question though. HELP?

Search through the London bucket shops.
You will find some cheap tickets.
Another possible way is to look at courier flights.
Some companies like DHL will have cheap tickets if you agree to go with no luggage, and let them have your luggage allowance, but I don't know the details.
You can stuff a couple of T-shirts and shorts in your hand luggage.

check on the last minute all in package deals with hotels , you can get some very low prices , you don't need to stay in the hotel either, just use the plane, alternatively get a visa sorted and get a one way ticket ( you cant get visa on entry if you don't have a return flight apparently) Then buy your return from Thailand, usually works out cheaper.
If your paying 700 quid for two tickets i think your gonna have problems getting a better price than that.

Try to book the tickets fare in advance. I was looking the other day for flights from London to Bangkok and found it for £517 with Finnair. Good luck!

Best to try all the websites like travel-mood.com then find if the airlines are willing to accept you as a mule for cargo. try bootsnall.com for some hints. Consider othe places to fly that may be cheaper in high season like KL / Manila then use train or low cost airlines www.airasia.com / www.cebupacific.com

nowherema is absolutely correct! Why don't people who ask questions here understand that this is a worldwide forum and how the hell do we know whether you're in Mongolia, Laos or (god forbid) america.
I f you'd told me where you're from I could help, but I guess the best I can do is either helicopter if you're close, or private Cessna Citation if you're not!
Have fun, Phuket is good and the mountains are cool.......

Stowaway? Swim?

Hitch hike?

You said cheapest, not safest.
