You are obviously not very bright, and probably more than a little homophobic. Gays have been in the military since your country was founded. Tens of thousands of gays have died to protect your homophobic a*s. Many have been postumously given medals because of heroism. There are documented cases of young guys doing very heroic acts and dying as a result, just so their homophobic families and friends would be proud of them.
I can guarantee you there isn't aperson reading this that doesn't have a friend or family member that is gay. Because of societies retarded attitude they will live "in the closet" rather than face the judgements and rejection they would suffer if they came out. As I said, they have been, are and always will be in the military of all countries. My personal feelings are that if you cannot "live and let live", than you should be damned to he*l for the judgemental hypocrite that you are. Remember about 10% of any society is gay, and most ppl can only identify about 10% of those . Ironically, I, like most people have made the mistake of assuming an individual was gay because of effeminate mannerisms only to find out later, that the were totally non-gay.

The most obvious reason most people come up with for gay men not to be allowed in the military is that they will have sex with other men.
If this line of reasoning is followed, then women would also be banned from the military. Furthermore, no military action could take place in any occupied country where women are present because that could (and has) lead to sex with women in other countries.
Bottom line, sex is unpreventable if the male involves finds a willing partner, male or female. What goes on in your bedroom has nothing to do with being able to defend your country, and if a gay man wants to help defend his country, he should be given the opportunity because our country can use all the help we can get.

Gays should be "allowed" anywhere to do anything. Sexual orientation only indicates sexual orientation -- it doesn't mean someone is a bad soldier, that they will "hit on" other soldiers, or any other negative. It's a fact that there have been gays in the military ever since we've HAD a military -- they just couldn't be open about it or they'd get discharged. Time to end that hypocrisy once and for all.

the question .."do u think gays should be allowed in the military? why?.. the same question can be asked... do u think gays should be allowed in heaven? why? my answer is pure and simple.. no one shud be judged by their choices on how one can live their lives, nor shall a person shud be judged by colour or creed.. everyone is equal in their own rights as a human who have been put on this earth, is there a difference to how a gay holds a gun and defends for what he believes in, then a non gay person? do we have the right to outcast an individual all because of their persons sexuality? When you look deeper instead of the outside of a person you will see that each and everyone of us are not all that perfect. We all tend to forget one of the 10 commandments.. love thy neighbour... To those who ARE in the forces, God Speed, and come home safe.

I am a firm believer in the "dont ask, dont tell" policy of this country. I believe that there are gays in the military right now. I do not see what difference your sexual preference would make as to whether or not you would be a good service member. I believe that both hehtrosexuals and homosexuals should be taught "safe sex" practics. Oh, by the way, I am a woman who likes men.I

No but only because it is about war in the military and the way it is set up is not conducive to preference accommodation. and like I always say it is none of anyone Else's business what people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms... There IS no privacy in the military...
You can't keep creating separate accommodations to house the gay and the women and the pedophiles in the military that solicit children on Dateline... It just gets too be too much. Too much testosterone too... No testie juice junkie is going to be able to actually have it in them to IGNORE an openly gay man...
I think "Don't ask, don't tell." works perfectly for everyone.

Yes. Your sexual preference should in no way effect your ability to show patriotism. If a person wants to bare arms in defense of their country that is there right. Banning gays from the military only weakens the force.

I served along side men that I knew were gay. It did not hinder their performance and they were good Marines.
I cannot believe I am going to say this but I agree with Bill Clinton. His policy of "don't ask don't tell', makes sense. The military should not waste its time searching for gays but open homosexuality could interfere with discipline.
The main purpose of the military is to fight wars not to be a social equalizer. Gays can serve but they do not have the right to interfere with the militarys stated purpose.

I just don't think it is possible based on the sleeping shower arrangements. If you are a straight male and you have to sleep and shower with a gay male - I don't think that is right. It would be like a woman having to shower in a men's shower - someone that is into that sex is there. Not saying that the gay person would do that...it just can't happen. There are separate birthing, showers and bathrooms due to gender, sex reasons. Gay and straight would be the same thing. The govt can't afford a male, female and gay areas.
I have nothing against gays - I am open to most religions, sexuality, affilitations and beliefs - as long as you don't press them on me - your free to be how you want as long as you don't break the law.
