I have moved out several months ago, and the apartment complex is attempting to charge me for what they claim is water damage to the carpet. However the damage was done by their cleaning crew when they came in to wet vac the carpet. When they finished, there was a bleached out section where they had cleaned. Is there a way to dispute this charge, before this is placed on my credit report? Should I utilize small claims court to dispute the charge?

yes and yes. yes dispute the charges in writing and be very detailed and send it to them by registered mail. make sure you add a clause for them to reply by mail only. If they persist and they will then use the court system. make sure you have all the facts when you go. you might want some kind of restitution as well.

You should have an attorney deal with this. You can also put a dispute comment on your credit report that the item is contested and under legal review, yaddah.

i could deliver them an approved letter with reference to the area so as which you will have some evidence of your tries to make good. i'm worried with reference to the wording you used right here. You vacated an condominium? i'm asuming in case you informed them you have been leaving and gave them word (regardless of if it grew to become into beforehand than the employ pronounced) that they could assist you to be attentive to approaches a lot you owe, take it out of your deposit or something of that nature. the completed stiuation does not sound on the up and up. It won't impact your credit except they deliver you to a collection corporation. in the event that they do this you would be able to get it cleared up and this is going to no longer impact getting a house to a lot interior the destiny, you will in simple terms could desire to describe why it handed off.

don't use that person that was looking for free legal advice on yahoo answers in court.

do you have any pictures of the place before the damage? proving it was not there when you were living there?

maybe speak w/ the cleaning crew, and be as nice as you can before going the court route....

good luck!

if you moved out several months ago , then why are they charging you for the carpet stain, (water Spillage)
when you moved in did you not give them a deposit ? and when you moved out they should inspect your apt on the same day !!
then give you your deposit back,
take them to court don't let them get the better of you .
good luck
