or is it just luck of the draw?
My cat is 15 now. Almost 16.infection. did the He uses my house for a bathroom and will not meow to go out. This is very VERY unlike him. The last time he did this, the vet said it was a bladder infection.

If your cat eats dry food only that can cause him to have more bladder problems because the urine becomes too concentrated and alkaline and burns him when he pees.

Stress is also a common factor in UTI's. If he isn't feeling well for other reasons that can cause him stress.

So definitely have the vet do a urine check on him. I hope he has had blood work and an exam this year too. Very important for senior cats.

I think any age cat can be prone to UTI's. My cat is only 4 years old and started getting them about a year ago. The vet told me to put her on cat food just for cats that get UTI's. I had her on One-for urinary tract for awhile and that one is expensive. Now she is on 9 lives for UTI sensitive cats. She NEVER gets them with her uti food,,,,, try that.... If I run out and give her anything else for more than a few days she will get a UTI so don't ever switch your cat back.

I think they are, but, I've had young cats with it. A visit to the Vets cleared it up. One tip that might help, don't let them outside. All the cats i have had were/are house cats, they live longer.

Yes. Especially if they've eaten only dry cat food their entire life.
