Mankind is just as natural as the dinosaurs, and just as vulnerable. And while the biosphere can be considered alive, it is just pantheism to claim that it can consciously 'cleanse' itself of us. Also, why would it strike so randomly if this were so? Seems that tsunami would have done much more 'good' by hitting the Eastern Seaboard of the US rather than some primitive islands in the Pacific. that operate much as they did thousands of years ago!
