Is anyone else severly lactose intolerant? I have found that in the morning my body can handle absolutely NO milk--even with the lactase pills--as little as 1 ounce is enough to 'cause problems'. Does anyone else suffer from this? I've been makine smoothies with a few tablespoons of yogurt in them for years, and now cannot use any yogurt--just lactose free milk (even after taking the lactase pills).

I think you can make your own yogurt from the lactose free milk.

Just heat the milk to 210 degrees - cool it to about 180 degrees and add 1/3 cup unflavored Dannon or live culture yogurt. Stir well with a whisk and cover. Place inside an oven with a pilot light for 5 hours minimum and you will have yogurt.

there is a brand called Lactaid that makes ice cream, cheese, cottage cheese and milk that is lactose free. i'm not sure about yogurt, though. it is a little sweeter but i just buy the 2% or fat free, it tastes less sugary.
