I don't know. I used to go to partypoker web site and play and people always accused others of "scanning" and cheating. I didn't think those types of programs really existed until I went to ebay and seen that they sold them. It showed a picture of the poker table and what you would see if you had that program, and you could see everyone's cards. I closed my real money account after that.

Corona & Calvin K. above gave you very, very poor answers. No - online poker isn't a scam. As a few responders said, you have the illusion of bad beats because you see far more hands per hour than you would in live play. It would be the worst business move in history for a poker site to be rigged. It would get out very quickly when people could start proving that statistically very improbable events started happening with great frequency. The site would shut down within a day if that ever got out. Plus - the site is getting their share of the pie no matter who wins - there's no vested interest by the site in who wins - they make the same cut no matter what.

Calvin's answer was very poor because he doesn't understand that the odds are NOT against you in poker. Poker is not like roulette, craps, blackjack, etc. where you are playing against the house - and the odds are purposely constructed to be against you. In poker, you are not playing against the house, you are playing against other opponents - you are all equal customers in the casino's eyes - the casino doesn't care which one of you wins - there is no edge for the house, because unlike the other games, the house isn't earning their money based on skewed odds.

Also - there is NO program out there that exists where you can see other people's cards - if there is - someone please post a link - I believe such products are, themselves, pure scams.

i make a living playing poker, i have been playing on line for 6 years, i have won my wsop seat 3 times.

i have played them all, and without any doubt the poker sites that are 100% rigged are the following

#1 poker stars
#2 full tilt poker
#3 doyles room
#4 paradise poker
#5 888.com

the ones that are not rigged by no means are

#1 party poker (it is a public company)
#2 ultimate bet (very fair)

i make my living at party poker and have done so after playing at all the others for over 60 hours a week.

as the hands are dealt, the rigged sites will arrange to pay certain people more than others. the non rigged sites do no do that. i have made a lot of money playing the last few years and i can speak from experience on this one, avoid the rigged sites!

It is not a scam. In fact it is more random than casino poker. Casino dealers sometimes shuffle poorly leaving the cards not being very random at all.

Online poker games have truly random hands. As was said above, you see more out draws online because you play 2-3 times more hands in an hour online than in a casino.

Another reason you are going to see more ridiculous calls and beats is the anonymity of online poker. It's a lot more embarrassing to have people call you an idiot in person than on the internet.

Online poker is accelerated poker, so you're going to see more bad beats and more "impossible draws" more often because you see more hands. It stands to reason that Internet players see more hands and see more BS because of the speed at which they play. Go to a brick and mortar establishment and you'll notice that your bad beats will be far and few between because you play so many less hands in the same amount of time.
