I am a student so have to keep a tight budget on food. As pasta is cheap and goes with lots of things I have been eating it a lot. I am starting to wonder if I should try and eat less of it though.

It may make you gain weight, if you eat too much, but otherwise pasta is great on a budget and can be quite healthy.

And actually, it's the sauces that can make it healthy v. unhealthy. Red marinara type sauces are best. If you can afford it, toss in some veggies for nutrients and vitamins. One of the pitfalls of eating the same food on a regular basis, is that you miss out on important vitamins, protein, etc. If you mix it up with some fresh tomatoes, zuchinni, onion, and other veggies it will help you get some of those.

You can also stir fry some veggies and soy sauce and toss it with that, for some variety and a way to eat veggies. Maybe throw in some peanuts or cashews for protein.

Everything is healthy in moderation.

Pasta Everyday

Carbs are neither evil nor fattening! Pasta is low fat and high energy, so is a good food to fill you up and stop you being hungry again half an hour after dinner. I was a student for 4 years and I also lived on pasta. I still do, but nowadays I don't make half a pint of cheese sauce to cover it in! Try sauces based around fresh peppers, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. That'll keep it low fat and get plenty of vitamins into your diet. If you ate exactly the same meal every day it would be bad for you, but if you vary the sauces and the vegetables you won't have any problems.

For some people yes, but for others it is fine to eat carbs everyday. It al depends on WHAT you eat with it. Rich and saucy pasta each day may in the long term have a negative effect! If you have not gained any weight from eating pasta everyday so far...you are a very lucky girl, because I know that I can't even look at foods high in carbs!

No, absolutely not.

Pasta is a popular and favourable dish had by many in places such as Italy and France almost every single day.

If you research the life expectancy of the average Italian you will find that their diet promotes one that is much longer that the average Brit. Pasta is rich in carbohydrates and the fact is, our body needs this to survive.

The trick is to balance it out with other nutrients and vitamins so that your body gets an equal amount of everything and does not overload on carbohydrates.

I think that you have made a great choice in living off pasta so far as you could have chosen to live off chips or burgers or something much less healthy.

But the decision you have made does not contribute towards bad health at all.

I suggest you vary the pasta dishes with a variety of vegetables
(quite cheap in most food stores) and check out various websites especially designed for those who wish to make a pasta dish.

Here are a few to get you going!

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

I'm not really sure to be honest. I use to go to Slimming world and she said that as long as you balance it out a little you could eat a whole bowl of pasta by itself if you really wanted to. My theory is generally if you don't eat too much of one thing you'll be fine on the other hand pasta's not really bad for you and if that's all your eating and your not picking then I don't see the harm. I eat loads of pasta and rice.

You might get burned out on it, but I could easily eat pasta every day. Try mixing up your dinners up with dried beans, rice, frozen veggies, and watch for sales like 10 for $10 at the store for canned goods or cheese. Cheese is another source of protein since you're carb-heavy. And remember, you can freeze your cheese!

pasta is not bad for you. pasta and all other natural carbs are energy for your body. the only people i can think that pasta might not be good for, is people that have a very low physical activity true out the day. you have to use the energy that you put in to your body or it will be stored and become fat. don't stress about what you eat it will make you miserable..

Eating just one food can be bad. There are many more foods that are cheap ssuch as ramen noodles. Or you can just go for the no frills brand. instead of kraft get the supermarket brand.

All pasta is full of carbs and if you watching you weight its a NO NO
