I had a friend who did that and would smack his lips at the same time..I once asked him after not being able to tolerate it any more '' Have you caught a cold?''
he said ''no, why?''
I said..''oh sorry cause I thought you were having trouble breathing through your nose..''
Mouth shut rest of the meal.

I truly believe some people do this because they have not ever been told how rude and gross it is. So all their lives this has been an acceptable practice. I would simply state to your friend that he really should try to keep his mouth shut while eating, you enjoy sharing the experience of sharing a meal however, do not wish to share the experience of seeing his chewed food in his mouth. It of course is not an easy thing to do, however, necessary and it will be a little embarrassing for him, if a true friend he will get over it. Tell him to practice eating in front a mirror, this should cure him of this dreadful habit. I personally will loose my appetite if someone is at the table like this it really grosses me out completely. Good luck and God bless

I have to agree with the first poster. It may sound odd, but if you ask politely, it may make the whole situation very uncomfortable and possibly strain the friendship. I say wait until he's doing it really intensely, while you're laughing with him over something else, and then throw it in with over the top levity. Many situations and relationships call for politeness, but often guys dealing with guy friends are a little more rough and tumble. Only you know how the dynamics between you and your friend work; you two may have a very polite and quiet friendship, in which case the over-the-top approach may seem out of character. Just keep within the particular style of your friendship!

Just come right and and say it "Where you raised in a barn" he will more than likely laugh and all you have to say is dont chew with your mouth open. Tell him your mama used to teach you to NOT chew with your mouth open and so you are just passing on the knowledge you got from your mom.

Good luck on that one. My brother was like that - and additionally he would take a drink of milk with every bite...it would drool around his lips. I got where I had to eat somewhere else - maman WOULD NOT correct him, he was her angel boy. (He was also 16 years older than me, and should have known better if I did...) Nothing anyone ever said to him made any difference, and the moo moo thing would have gotten me a clop in the chops for sure! The only cure I have for you is to not sit opposite him where you can see it - sit on the same side of the table!

when you are eating you should try and toss something in there like a clove that has a bad taste then he'll learn to not chew with their mouth open. Plus the expression on their face once they bite down would be priceless and they might jsut find it funny also.

There is no polite way. Just be polite when you ask. Don't say "for crying outloid shut your mouth when you chew", say "Could you keep your mouth closed whilest you chew?"

That's revolting. It's amazing how many people do it. I would say it straight, but in a lighthearted, casual way. I would be more embarrassed if someone made a bigger deal about being tactful and putting too much emphasis on it.

I doubt the polite way to go about it would be to moo!!!
That is one of my biggest peeves! It isn't really something you can tell people unless you are close to them! I told my mom, and she didn't even realize that she does it. AND she hasn't stopped! I think it is habit, that people can't stop.
I actually have trouble eating when people do that, it really grosses me out!
