I used to volunteer with the SPCA and we used bleach and water solution to clean up with a PARVO outbreak (let me add how sorry I am for your loss, PARVO is a dreadful disease).
Parvo can last in an environment for 9 months or longer (and from fecal matter in the ground for at least 5 months). We would quarantine our gravel outside play yards for at least six months and ensure no puppies went out (and only dogs vaccinated against Parvo) until the 9 month or so period was up. And everything was sprayed down with a bleach solution (including the gravel rock, fence, etc). We also would have to wash our shoes off in a bleach solution before entering any other area.
Parvo is not an airborne virus but is exreted in the feces of an infected animal (but is spread by humans, birds, and other dogs moving it around).
I would wait six months before bringing home another pup...You may also want to ensure the new dog/pup has an immunity to Parvo (you can have a titer run by your vet) and/or is vaccinated against Parvo.
Good luck and again I am sorry for your loss.

My Pit Bull had Parvo when he was about 6 months old ... thankfully it was noticed immediately, and he was taken to the vet. He's now two years old.
The vet said if he didn't survive, it was not recommended to get another dog for a least a year. It's impossible to fully sterilize the back-yard, and the Parvo virus can still be contagious for up to a year.
I'm sooo sorry to hear about your dog. Take comfort in knowing he/she is at Rainbow Bridge. :)

bleach your house where you can and all cememt
DO NOT get another PUPPY
get a fully vaccinated dog - but make sure you have washed everything really well because the virus can be spread on your shoes or dogs paws to other dogs when you leave your home...
main thing is puppies are very likely to catch parvo so dont take the risk.. get a fully vaccinated dog only (and be aware vaccination isnt a 100% guarantee)

You can get another pup ,but if you put it down where the other one with parvo has been,it will also take parvo. You must disinfect your surrounds,as parvo germ is still there and every pet that hasn't fully had vaccinations for this will get it.Go to this site and it can tell you all about parvo.

You can get another puppy but you have to wait a few months and clean everything possible to make sure the new puppy doesn't get it. This happened to my parents with their new puppy and the vet had them wait 6 months before getting a new one.

they say once parvo is in the yard it stays there for up to 7 years...but we use bleach and water with a hose connector that you would spray weeds with and spay the whole yard...it kills all your grass and plants but hey! so anyway other then that its just taken a chance...sometimes some of our puppies get sick and sometimes they dont...even if its not in the yard they can pick it up other ways......

I had this happen to me...
We had to sterilize everything with Germicide. (Which says on the back that it kills parvo) I mean everything. Shoes. Everywhere the dog vomited and deficated. I would wait 3 weeks at least after you sterilize.
