My dog has been living inside our home for the past 2 1/2 years. I am allergic to the dog and we have made the decision to remove the dog from the home (now living at a friends home). How long will it take for the dander proteins that are throughout my home to no longer be an active allergen?

They will be a problem as long as they're in the house. Give the place a very thorough cleaning. Or get someone else to do it, since you're allergic.

If you do it, or help, try wearing a painter's mask. That should save you some misery from the dust that will probably be kicked up.

Good luck!

i am a non smoker who had major lung surgery and living with out my full lungs. I had a dog and needed to get rid of the dog to due to dander and the fact I need an oxygen concentrator.

I had to get new furniture. Because the dander was in my furniture. While I was in the hospital 30 some days, I had all my window opens and a good cleaning. Came home and still could tell I once had a dog.

I am sorry to hear you have allergies, but you need to get new furniture if the dog sat or laid on the furniture. Then you have to wash all your curtains. It is really a pain doing all of this.

Till the house is cleaned properly,as otherwise allergens can remain indefinitely.
