I'm just wondering how people feel about this issue. Why do you feel that way and what are your reasons. I'm not looking to be convinced one way or another---I'm set in the way I feel and my beleifs on it. Just want to know how you feel about it.

I think it's morally wrong, except in circumstances where the mother's health is threatened. Making it legal does not make it right. But I don't think it should be illegal. Whether people think a woman should have the right to choose or not is totally irrelevant. A woman with an unwanted pregnancy who is frightened will make a choice no matter if it is legal or not. I am old enough to remember before abortion was legal. Many women did self-abortion and sought out illegal practitioners who were unqualified, and really suffered the consequences. Did you know that right after abortion became legal the incidence of miscarriage went down? That is just on paper, What actually happened was that when women tried self-abortion and were bleeding uncontrollably and in great pain they would run the to emergency room. The doctors at the time recorded this as miscarriage to spare the woman legal problems. I remember reading in conservative publication like The Reader's Digest and Redbook articles in favor of legalizing abortion. The problem is that some people's blatant irresponsible immorality offends many of us. I don't like that my tax dollars go to subsidize abortions for irresponsible immoral women. But I do know that there are women who are just unfortunate enough to be caught in a very bad situation and see this as their best way out. I agree with President Clinton when he said that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. It will take a lot more education, health and sex education, and education in just being responsible for the results of your actions before abortion will be rare.

I could never have an abortion because I would never forgive myself. I have four kids and feel so blessed to have them even though when I accidentally became pregnant with the fourth I did think about an abortion. It was totally selfish when I look back on it now and am 100 percent glad I had her instead. I think it is a personal choice though.

I think it depends on the situation. I think women should have the right to have an abortion, I do not, however think it should be used as a form of birth control. I know a woman who has had five abortions. I don't think that should be allowed to happen. I think if you accidentally get pregnant, and know you can not care for the child, then yes, you should have the option to terminate the pragnancy. I also feel that rape, incest, and other instances that fall into that category, then the woman should be allowed to make the decision if she wants to terminate.

I am pro-choice. That being said, abortion because you can't support the baby and give it a healthy life is a gray area, and I wholeheartedly oppose the use of abortion solely because someone doesn't want a baby. Not wanting to support a baby is one thing, not being able to support a baby is another.

It's a tough issue, a case-by-case thing. I think that trying to fit everything in our world into black and white cheapens debates and pigeonholes people - the abortion debate is no exception.

Well, it's a sensitive issue. I'm a reverend, and I'm not going to tell you if its right or wrong, but, if youre Christian, reread your bible, there are passages that deal with the murder of a pregnent woman, it states it's a sin to kill the mother, but not the unborn baby. Just think about that.

I feel strongly that abortion of a normal healthy fetus is murder and wrong. There are instances where it is indicated, but they are rare instances. Most abortions are done as birth control, so I think it is murder of an unborn child. WRONG WRONG WRONG

It is an individual decision to be made by a woman (and her partner). The public and churches have no business butting their noses into that decision.
