Traveling to the Philippines in late December early January and looking for activities. I'm an active person that is looking for activities that allow me to be active and learn about the culture.

I'm told scuba diving is great and I plan to do this....Any other suggestions?

Personally, I think that the best way to quickly learn about Filipino culture and history is to go to the National Museum in Manila.

It's a good museum. They have a lot of good exhibits from all over their islands. Well worth it. Good history. Check out their website (good info): http://members.tripod.com/philmuseum/index

I also think that the Philippines has the most affordable, safe diving. Most of the dive masters are foreignors and the cost (where I go) is $25 for all equipment, boat and dive master. You just can't beat it. There are good reefs in the Philippines. Palawan is supposed to be unbelievable (but expensive at the nice resorts there). I always go to Puerto Galera. You take a car/taki/van/bus 2 hrs south of Manila to Batangas pier (Batangas city). Be very, very careful there at night. Best to go there in the daytime. Anyhow, then you take a boat/ferry to Sabang Beach (near Puerto Galera, Mindoro island). The boat ride is about an hour long. Sabang is good for diving and partying. http://www.world66.com/asia/southeastasia/philippines/mindoroisland/sabangbeach

in case your funds can arise with the money for it, the ritz inn , grand cayman , cayman island. december january is vacationer season so the island will be finished of existence. im not particular if youve been to the caribbean b4 yet ive lived in st lucia, grenada , bermuda, cayman (at present) . and visited others which incorporates bahamas and cuba. Cayman is secure, interesting, large climate and waters ,and ive see some quite effective weddings ensue on the coastline.
