One must definitely see more than a first date to make judgments like these, most of my humble male species don't even start thinking about these things at a first date. The single thought would be "How do I get her to bed?" and thus he will probably try to agree with you on many things or try to impress you with several things like his vast knowledge, how much money he makes etc.
In this kind of a situation, the main turn-offs are simply physical, bad teeth, red eyes, ugly skin, (e.g. if you are at dinner) bad manners, etc.
However, the main thing starts after the first date. Personally, I see what kind of a family my "date" has, as it is an undeniable factor in character development, even if some people try to deny it with all their heart and soul. Other than that, intelligence is a very important factor (though I think it is interestingly a turn-off for some man) since I detest stupid people (apparently some men don't). The accent might be a really bad turn-off as it unmistakably shows your "caste" in some parts of the world.
The single most important characteristic about a woman is whether she will support the man, or be an obstacle. While this might seem trivial, and unnecessary in this time and age, it is still true, both for men and women. Just to give an example, primitive emotions like jealousy and self-centeredness can only be obstacles in ones career, life, everything. On the other hand, if your partner is willing to make sacrifices for your own good, it will probably lead to a better relationship anyway - unless you are the one being primitive, of course. This only one example of obstacles, there are many more.
Well, unintentionally it was a bit long, but I think I could explain what I think. To cut a long story short: Physical appearance is important on the first date, but afterward everything turn around.

Well first of all, if you are on a date, he is attracted to you in some sort of way already. Just make sure you are yourself. So many people show a false side of themselves on the first date and nothing is real about it. For example, a woman may make sure she doesn't use foul language during the first date. After a few dates, she may cuss like a sailor. The same thing goes for eating habits. I think unless a person just comes off as a complete nut case like some of the women on "Flavor of Love", everything should be O.K.
Keep in mind, you may get several answers to this question but everybody's motives and past experiences come into play when they are 'judging' their date.

I think unless the guy is someone just looking for sex, being easy on the first date is definately a turn off. The chase is part of what makes a guy (one who wants to be in a relationship) want the girl.

the biggest turn on for me is a womans intelligence he kind and caring outlook on life some guys will tell you that there body or there flirtyness this is not the case all the time. on the first date i look for the girl the next door qualities regardless of her looks because a woman wants to be treated with respect and thats what they deserve

but most of the time i dont find out on the first date i feel that the first date is really just to meet each othar and hang out.
also i know when a girl likes me is when SHE calls me wanting to hang out, or do something!!!

if it's a dinner date, i would like her to be formal not just in attire, but importantly, the way she manages table manners...
and the way she would talk to me.. there must be the combination of being charming ang sweet...
but, if it's just like a hang-out, say for example, in a disco bar.
she must be on the game! i would like it if she can play wild..
but, not too much that would cause me trouble inside that disco bar.
if it will be in a movie house, i would like it if she's gonna be somehow like a hard-to-get.. I mean, kinda shy or dont even like me to touch her... 'CAUSE IT COULD MEAN THAT WOMAN IS ABSOLUTELY VALUABLE... and guys love it most!
but if it will just be a walk in a park or somewhere, i want her to be chatty so i wont get bored...
